Wekfest Florida 2017 Coverage… Part 2…

Holy crap, happy holidays everyone. Time has just been flying by this month with all the car shows and the holidays and what not. I can’t believe it’s already time to usher in 2018. Things have been hectic to say the least over here. I’ve been getting things ready for the coming year and it is going to be a huge one for me, as The Chronicles steps into year number ten. I can’t believe we are actually here now, considering how this wasn’t really ever supposed to be a ‘thing’, if you know what I mean. I’m just glad that after all this time, The Chronicles is still going as strong as ever and I still get this amazing opportunity to travel all over the place to experience car culture. In a few weeks I’ll be going back to Japan as well and I’m pretty excited to see what is going to happen out there. I went three times this year but it has been a while since I’ve been back so it seems like it has been forever. Today, we’re going to go through the rest of the roll-in photos from the Wekfest Florida show. Even this event seems like it happened a long time ago with all that is piling up on my desk here at the shop. I don’t know if you guys know this since I haven’t really announced it officially but I’ve been devoting most of my time lately to working on my book, which I hope to have available in the first quarter of 2018. I’m pretty excited about it and it is really coming together so far. It’s not easy trying to pull-up nearly ten years worth of photos and trying to find my favorite shots. I’d love to include so much more but man, printing a book is not cheap. I want to keep it around 50 pages or so but it is so tough man. Anyways, I’m gonna get back to working on that so enjoy the shots below…

Before it is all said and done, goodbye to a fantastic 2017 and I wish you all a happy new year. I appreciate the support over the years and I can’t wait to experience 2018 with everyone. Thank you.

John Perez’s EF sedan is probably one of the most detailed builds out in Florida. Every year, he seems to come up with even more rare accessories for his Civic, parts that most have never even seen or heard of before. I always appreciate his dedication to his build though and there aren’t too many people who I’ve met in all my travels who are as dedicated to collecting extremely rare EF/ED/EE-related stuff…

The award for smartest enthusiast in the building goes to the owner of this Lexus 2GS from Fortune Minds for hiring a mobile detail guy to come wash his car instead of trying to clean his own car in the sweltering Florida heat. Who wants to get all sweaty and hang out all day all dirty and shit, right?…

Blue Civic hatchback on Rays Gram Lights wheels running a replica First Molding carbon front lip. Interesting to see so many people out there running this lip, but it makes sense, since the maker is out in Florida and not many people are willing to pay First Molding prices and wait for shipping. Unfortunate that the replicas exist but it begs the question, do enthusiasts out there know enough about what they’re buying to even realize that such a company as First Molding actually exists?… Hmmm…

RHDkev from popular car vlog 4banger Productions has recently made the move down to Florida from the Tri-State area. His Integra now has a Special Projects P1 front lip and Tracklife front fender-inserts with PCI sideskirts…

Nice to see a BB6 Prelude pop-up at a car show since we don’t see them very often these days….

Xul Colon from XMP’s Honda Domani made its usual appearance at the Wekfest Florida event…

IMG_0419-Edit

IMG_0421-Edit

The engine bay of Xul’s build is always consistently good with the tilted K-series swap which shifts the engine forward, more commonly seen in drag-racing applications. One of the signature’s of Xul’s engine bay is the crazy header and clean firewall set-up…

One of the coolest builds at Wekfest Florida was this turbocharged Mazda MX-5 Miata, looking quite aggressive with the meaty tire/Weld Racing wheel set-up and huge dump tubes sticking straight-up out of the engine bay…

IMG_0475-Edit

You guys may remember seeing Yoel’s  Mugen-everything Type R just a few weeks before at the Wekfest Texas event. He made the drive out for that show and decided to attend the Florida event as well just before leaving on vacation to Cuba…

IMG_0502-Edit

One of the cleanest builds of the day was this Rocket Bunny Datsun S30Z on Work Meister CR-01 wheels….

IMG_0503-Edit

Super clean JDM Nissan Silvia Qs with Ks aero package and bronze Advan Racing Model 5 wheels. Absolutely love the two-tone and the period-correct wheel choice for this PS13….

IMG_0506-Edit

Also really dig the exhaust set-up and how the car looks exactly like a cleanly-modded Silvia you’d see overseas…

IMG_0524-Edit

One more of the 3.8 RSR…

IMG_0531-Edit

…and we close it out with a shot of two of my favorites from the shows and some 90s-era heroes. White on bronze with some 1990s-feel. It doesn’t really get much better than that…

Thanks for looking and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!…

  1. Awesome job!!! Great pictures and amazingly well written..

  2. That first molding replica lip you’ve mentioned is actually of better quality than an original. The maker of the replica was an FM owner but due to constant repairs of the original, he decided to make a better version. Replica is way more durable than the thin lips sold by icb x FM. Ask MikeEGtank, he also is rocking a replica FM lip from the same maker.
