Attack Tsukuba 2020 Coverage… Part 2…

Well, things don’t look to be getting any better any time soon but it’s a good thing I still have all kinds of photos to show you. I imagine now would be as good a time as ever to post content on the site with everyone stuck at home and all so let’s dive right back into Attack Tsukuba coverage! When we last left off, we were nearing the end of the first day of Attack, which was known as the Zummy Racing Family Day. This was more of a practice and set-up day for the cars and teams that were there. Some were able to get test laps in while others were arriving in-time to prep for the following day. The sun was starting to come down and golden hour was upon us. It was the perfect time to take photos and with little to no other spectators around, we basically had access to everything…

“Shark” Iiri’s FD3S RX-7 from Full Stage showed-up towards the end of the afternoon in preparation for the next day’s competition…

309A7236-Edit

K-series set-up under the hood of the GNR Civic which sees a significant amount of alterations to the wheel well and shock tower areas likely cut for clearance reasons…

309A7247-Edit

The Auto Rescue Izu FD unloaded off the trailer and ready for some practice laps during the Zummy Racing Family day. I love this shot because it shows everyone just hanging out by the wing and having a good chat. Also there’s a DB8 Integra Type R just parked in the background all casually…

309A7259-Edit

Yellow Factory Racing EG6 with a fresh set of Advan A050 on, wrapped to protect from unnecessary debris and ready for competition…

309A7269-Edit

Kiyotaka from Top Fuel Racing’s 13B-powered RX-7 which wears a custom front-end paired with Panspeed front and rear fenders. The rear glass has been deleted and replaced with just a carbon shell and wedged in-between the rear end and diffuser is a large center-exit titanium exhaust…

309A7330-Edit

Unfortunately for the GNR Racing Civic, its weekend ended early after the car went off and collided with the wall…

309A7334-Edit

The front core support looked like it wore most of the damage with the rest of the front end pushed in and shifted significantly to the passenger side. If this car were to make a comeback in the future, it looks like it may be time to cut the front core support off and aim for a custom-fabricated tubed front-frame…

309A7343-Edit

I always enjoy really oddball cars so this Nissan Clipper immediately caught my attention with its tiny Advan Racing RG wheels on…

309A7353-Edit

Funny because I was busy staring at the Clipper while Sean Lucas from NDF was chatting with Takanori Seyama about his BNR32 Skyline…

309A7350-Edit

It looks like the Seyamax/Admix R32 Skyline has changed a bit since I last saw it a year ago. Gone is the door-exit exhaust with the new pipes exiting out of the hood of the Skyline…

309A7357-Edit

More importantly, the heart of the Admix Skyline is new, with the former RB26DET retired and a new billet block in its place…

309A7361-Edit

The exterior hasn’t changed much and still looks as menacing as it ever has with the big front splitter and multiple canards…

309A7382-Edit

It was just a beautiful day at Tsukuba Circuit with race cars and a glorious sunset…

309A7413-Edit

An FD wearing a TCP Magic aero kit arrived before the day ended and was carefully unloaded off of its trailer…

309A7463-Edit

Once Kenneth Lau’s ITR was all set-up for Attack, we were finally able to walk-over and get a detailed look at it…

309A7428-Edit

The interior is pretty spectacular featuring a carbon dashboard which is mounted to the custom roll cage of the DC2…

309A7419-Edit

The piece that immediately steals your attention when you glance inside is the Civic Type R TCR steering wheel. Behind it is a digital display meter and not too far away from the wheel is the shifter for Lau’s sequential transmission…

309A7425-Edit

Under the carbon fiber dash are a set of Tilton floor-mounted pedals which is encapsulated inside a carbon fiber pedal box…

309A7441-Edit

Powering the ITR is a built K24 engine using the PracWorks carbon intake manifold which we saw earlier exposed through the vented hood…

309A7447-Edit

Anyone ever seen mugen ignition coils before?…

309A7448-Edit

Another angle of the PracWorks intake manifold with its dry carbon housing and billet 6061-T6 flanges…

309A7451-Edit

The fuel set-up for the ITR is situated right behind the driver’s seat, surrounded by the custom roll cage…

309A7455-Edit

From this overhead angle you can see how the filler tube runs to the factory location and also where the fuel pump is mounted next to the fuel cell…

309A7472-Edit

The ASLAN EG6 with its front end removed for maintenance…

309A7467-Edit

With the front removed, you can see how the front splitter is mounted to the chassis of the car, using welded-on arms that attach to the extended frame of the Civic…

309A7487-Edit

Here you can also see the individual throttle bodies and its angled velocity stacks…

309A7510-Edit

Lau moved his Integra Type R over to the other side of the pit area for photos so I couldn’t resist getting another photo or two myself…

309A7513-Edit

ASLAN and whatever auto body shop they used did a fantastic job of integrating the M&M widebody panels into the OEM front face of the ITR. The center section under the opening on the front bumper is completely custom starting from each end of the flares that are no molded to the bumper…

309A7517-Edit

The Total Car Service Usui NA8C Miata, sans livery, parked and ready for competition…

309A7458-Edit

I ended the first day at Tsukuba with this shot of the track, void of people and cars. Just a beautifully peaceful setting as the sun set…

After that, we went back to our hotels, grabbed some dinner, and readied ourselves for the next full day of Attack…

309A7523-Edit

The next day, we arrived bright and early to get an early start at Attack. The first car we ran into as we entered TC2000 was Material Auto Factory’s Ridox JZA80 Supra…

309A7527-Edit

The majority of its aero is Varis-produced Ridox pieces, but the front over fender and vented front fender look to be custom pieces…

309A7530-Edit

Right next to the white JZA80 was the Tamon Designs widebody Supra…

309A7539-Edit

I didn’t think I’d see anymore Civics other than the ones we encountered on the first day at the track but low and behold, this matte black EK from Super Way appeared. The front looked to be a modified Air Walker with a front splitter added, along with a pair of canards, and the sideskirts appear to be Buddy Club units…

309A7553-Edit

This CBY-kitted AE86 Levin looked pretty impressive with dry carbon body panels used throughout. Even the entire front grill and headlights are all now one solid piece of mold-formed dry carbon…

309A7540-Edit

309A7542-Edit

309A7544-Edit

309A7546-Edit

309A7547-Edit

The dry carbon also ties into the engine bay of the16-Valve 4A-GE powered Levin. Even the wheel well areas have been cut-out and replaced with the ultra lightweight material. A dry carbon shroud houses the V-mounted radiator and fan while the driver’s side hosts a dry carbon shroud and box which attaches to the likewise carbon velocity stacks of the individual throttles…

309A7550-Edit

The engine set-up itself looks incredibly simple, but less is definitely more in this regard as this AE86 was one of the fastest all weekend running a best lap time of 58.225…

309A7556-Edit

A view of the vented front fender and flares on the CBY Levin and its Performance Friction brake kit…

309A7563-Edit

The Admix BNR32 was on display for the general public since the track was still too wet for competition so I grabbed some more photos of the engine bay…

309A7568-Edit

Had to get a close-up of the front aero set-up. When your canards need brackets for support, that’s how you know you got some serious aero…

309A7569-Edit

AP Racing brake and rotor kit on the Admix Skyline…

309A7574-Edit

Eventually the track started to dry-up, the rain and dispersed and a driver’s meeting took place at the finish line of TC2000…

309A7585-Edit

I still got a bunch of photos coming your way but we really can’t go anywhere right now anyway so it’s probably a good time to just have these photos to keep you occupied. More updates coming as soon as I can get all these posts together. Stay tuned of course, as we continue our coverage of Attack Tsukuba!!…
