Ok, maybe “missing” is a bit of an overstatement because I knew exactly where they were, I just had them tucked away in my laptop for the last year or so. I actually had these photos processed a long time ago as well, it’s just that the past few years have involved a lot of traveling and as such, it’s hard to sit down and put these blog posts together like I did before…but, I told everyone I’d try to get these going consistently again so after the Wekfest Seattle and San Jose pics went up, I started to get a good groove going again. The writing isn’t even so much the difficult part. Words roll-out of my brain and through my fingertips rather quickly. It’s all the set-up and code that is required to make the posts on this site which actually takes the longest…
I love taking photos and I love the post-processing part even more. The writing comes naturally because I am consciously thinking about what I am going to write pretty much at all times during an event. It’s just time that I am running low on these days. Back in the beginning I didn’t have much going on and didn’t have so many things on my plate. I just feel like every year I have to do more now because I’m constantly stuck with this feeling that I’m not doing enough and need to catch-up. What it is I’m catching-up to is a mystery. Perhaps it’s just my own expectations. Like I don’t feel like I’m quite where I should be yet and I’ve been doing this for a very long time, so it feels kinda ridiculous. My logical brain tells me I am right where I need to be. The ambitious, possibly unrealistic, part of my brain says it’s not enough. See more, travel more, experience MORE. And that weight of expectation can be rather daunting sometimes. You ever feel like you need to do so much that you end up not doing anything at all? That happens to me too. I don’t want it to, but I am constantly fighting…
The last 5 years or so, I told myself I’d experience more of life itself. Instead of constantly trying to capture a moment, I decided it was time for me to actually live within the moment. To feel and experience what others are when I’m holding-up a camera and capturing that moment for someone else. It’s been rewarding, I can honestly say. Now I have cars I’m working on myself, I can share some of those experiences with my peers. I can put my camera down and just talk to people. I can be social, which is something I often choose not to be because my comfort is in my own solitude. But I can’t just let life go by as I try to be the most productive person I can be. I would be shortchanging the life experience. As such, sacrifices are made…
Unfortunately, some stuff like the photos and words you’ll see today are a result of that re-prioritizing of life. I never forgot about them. Every time I open my laptop and see the two folder icons on my desktop labeled ‘Wekfest East 2023’ and ‘Wekfest 2024’, I tell myself I should post those soon. And then I close my laptop because Yasu or someone is calling for me to come look at something or talk to someone. The idea of my looking at my laptop at all means that I’m on the road or in a different country. I don’t actively pull my laptop out when I’m in my office because I have my desktop PC. So the photos just sit, and the weeks turn into months, months into years, and here we are in 2025…
I will admit though that there was one time in 2024 when I was about to post the photos here, then I saw someone (who I will not name) pull the photos from my Flickr account and use them on Instagram before I even had a chance to put them up. And I got annoyed, so I didn’t post them, lol. It sounds dumb but I probably wasn’t in a great mood and I just remember being irritated by the whole idea. As if to say that they’d rather just have the photos without the words behind them, so they just took them. In hindsight, people were probably just excited to see the photos and show them to others. It’s not that big of a deal…
I am approaching the Wekfest East event this weekend with the idea that the East Coast doesn’t need us anymore. I don’t know, I honestly think I’ve felt like this for a while now. It seems like the East Coast has it’s own momentum going now and has been building this momentum for the last few years. They have their 7’s Day cruises, PRIME has done an incredible job of curating the community out there, and it just seems like they have their own unique vibe now. We out here in the West have seemingly found our own groove again too. The economy isn’t great but it seems like the car community is thriving, with different areas thriving in their own ways. Maybe it is a good thing that different pockets of the country have their own thing. It feels kinda like the 2000s when things were more territorial. I don’t know. I think there needs to be a major change. And that catalyst to that concept is the understanding that maybe the East doesn’t need Wekfest anymore. Maybe they don’t WANT Wekfest anymore. And perhaps that is okay. I think a change of venue would be great too, because frankly, the New Jersey Exposition Center is not a great venue for car shows. It never really has been. It was just a means to an end. But with prices going up every year and little to no improvements to the building itself, it’s not worth it anymore. We actively searched for new venues last year, even visited various locations. But New York is expensive. It’s also very compact. There’s no space in the city indoors for a big car show. And hosting something boutique and small feels a little too exclusive—and again, expensive. How do we do something in that area that feels new and different? Should we even try? In an area so rich with their own car community, should we just leave them to their own devices and watch from afar? Perhaps I’ll find ways to visit and experience car culture there myself if this happens to be the last year Wekfest visits the East…
There are a lot of questions without solid answers at this point in time. All I can do is show you photos from the last two years right now. It’s a good reminder why I do enjoy going out there and seeing a different perspective on the custom car community…
Sorry for the delay. Here are photos from Wekfest East 2023-24…
And just a quick reminder we before we begin, if you’re interested in any of these photos in 16×20 poster print format, I offer that service. You can purchase prints HERE…
2023
The last couple of years, it’s become a bit of a tradition for us to go visit our friend Ferdi Rivera. It’s usually his daughter’s birthday so they have a family party for her and we somehow get included. On this trip in 2023, Ferdi was putting his Integra Type R back together and we all used it as an opportunity to help out…
Dan even came down from Connecticut to hang and offer a helping hand…
Ferdi’s Integra is actually an imported DC2R and through the years, he has managed to acquire a solid collection of Mugen parts for it…
The Mugen components carry over to the inside of the DC2 as well with a Mugen wheel, gauge cluster, shift knob, and even floor mats which come from a new generation Civic…
Mugen M7 wheels add to the Mugen front, sides, Gen. 1 spoiler, and Gen.1 exhaust…
Dan was very eager to help…
After the Ferdi family outing, we called it a night early and woke-up bright and early for set-up at the venue…
The early morning roll-in usually looks pretty nice here with the sunrise because the lot is massive and cars aren’t cluttered together. One of the first cars I spotted that morning was Paolo Lim and his 240SX from TOUGH Club…
Grid Life regular Chris Acosta and his Civic sedan on GroupB wheels…
Kiet Hong’s Mugen DC5 from Team EMOTION. Every time I see this car it reminds me of the first time I ever saw it in-person at a Spocom event when it was Candy Fuchsia a whole lifetime ago…
Toyota GR86 from Crown SpeedLab with an APR Performance lip kit…
and Rays Versus Turismo VT125S wheels with Blitz front brakes…
Kevin Beepat’s Honda Integra Type R with Mugen front, sides, Gen. 1 rear wing, Spoon Sports brakes and SW388 wheels…
Koomal Poonai’s Mugen-themed FK8 Civic Type R…
Shyam and Kevin screaming at each other while Chris is stuck in the middle…
Turbocharged EP3 Civic with Mugen aero kit, Anointed Aero front wide fenders, and Volk CE28SL wheels…
Eric Sebastian’s Civic Type R LE pulled-up on a transport looking showroom fresh…
Jason Schmuck from Schmuck Built’s personal Honda S2000 build…
…equipped with a custom turbocharged Honda J-series swap…
Mid-engine Autozam AZ-1 on some old centerlock HRE wheels…
Spoon Sports-themed EK9 Civic Type R…
Denny Delosangeles from Team Toyminator making an adjustment on the front bumper of his AE86…
Kiet Hong’s DC5 sitting nice and low as it makes its way inside…
Eric’s FL5 and FK8 Type Rs matching on Spoon wheels…
Richie Sry’s FK8 Type R running the carbon fiber variations of the Mugen wing and hood…
Not everyday you come across a Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution, especially one equipped with WEDS Adventure Hase Spec II wheels…
Shyam Sookram’s Integra Type R is a regular at these Wekfest East events. In 2023 he decided to mount his incredibly rare FEEL’S rear wing…
Brian Cardoza and friends talking Hondas in front of his Vogue Silver Metallic EK9 Type R…
Willy’s double front-staggered EK4 Civic SiR…
Early morning roll-ins usually involve a little bit of waiting around before you can get staged inside the building…
Chris Panchoo’s TSX with J’s Racing front, J’s vented hood, Mugen rear wing, and TE37SL wheels…
It’s always a pleasure to see Chris Rios’s legendary turbocharged Integra GS-R build from Team EMOTION. Nothing ever needs to change with this car as it should just stay this way forever and be a time capsule for the automotive community…
Johne Santos’ Ferrari Red SW20 MR-S Turbo from Team EMOTION on 18-inch Work Meister S1 3-piece wheels…
Marvin Ma’s AP2 S2000 wearing an ASM front bumper, ASM hood, ASM rear over fenders, Amuse Legalo Face front fenders, J’s Racing side skirts, Spoon Sports rear diffuser, Voltex GT wing, EVS mirrors, and OEM hard top…
The beautiful lines of the Legalo Face fenders shape nicely around the Desmond Regamaster EVO wheels and Falken Azenis tires…
I know Lester Bracero as a TSX guy but in the last few years he’s been tinkering with an FK8 Type R chassis…
Tony Salcedo’s incredible VSM EK9 Civic Type R from EMOTION with a BackYard Special front bumper, Spoon Sports carbon fiber hood, mirrors, wing, front brakes and bronze Mugen MF10 wheels with blue anodized caps…
Always appreciated the simplicity of this AP2 S2000 with Spoon Sports Aero front bumper, Spoon mirrors, Spoon brakes, OEM CR wing with extended stands, and Work Meister S1 2-piece wheels…
If I remember correctly, this was once Mike Gnatz’s Civic which he built a couple years ago in Chicago. The car was sold in 2021 and moved over to the East Coast. Looks like it has progressed since then with an Spoon lip added, AP Racing brakes, and TEs…
Jonathan Ortiz’s 532whp turbocharged DC5 RSX Type-S from EMOTION running a Mugen front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper, rear wing, J’s Racing hood, J’s front fenders, Ganador Super Mirrors, First Molding rear diffuser, and Volk Racing TE37 wheels…
An overhead view of Tony’s Civic Type R where you can get a glimpse of his Spoon Sports bucket seats…
Larry Mak from Team Regiment Zero’s R33 Skyline GT-R with 400R front, JUN sides, and URAS rear diffuser and Rays NISMO LMGT1 wheels…
Ricky Dabrowski’s Voodoo Blue FD3S RX-7 from Regiment Zero running RE Amemiya AD1 aero, Desmond EVO wheels, and a rare Sanai Works Aero Reiden front bumper…
800HP BMW M4 coupe with JDM Laptorr front lip, PSM sides, and Volk Racing TE37 wheels…
Crazy to see a full carbon fiber Aimgain-kitted NC1 NSX out and about on Litespeed Racing wheels…
The man behind Eat Sleep Race! and his personal Dodge Viper SRT-10 build on magnesium BBS E28 wheels…
I didn’t really get photos during the show but after the awards I was able to get some shots of the roll-out. The first car I captured was Ricky’s RX-7…
Peter Li’s Chalk White FD RX-7 from Regiment Zero with a Mazdaspeed front and Work VS-XX wheels…
Paolo Lim’s 240SX with Type-X aero and ADVAN Model 5 once again…
Another of the beautifully-executed green Civic hatchback from earlier…
BNR32 Skyline GT-R with N1 front, sides, wing, and NISMO LMGT1 wheels…
Marvin heading out in his S2000…
Brian’s Ferrari Grigio Medio gray Dodge ZB II Viper SRT-10 VOI-X…
Jheanne Sevilla’s Subaru Impreza WRX wearing full Varis aero and Forgeline wheels…
Sevilla’s WRX is hoodless to show-off his fully shaved engine bay and tucked Boxer engine…
It’s been a couple years but if I recall correctly, Jonathan Ortiz won the Acura Class with his incredibly well-built RSX Type-S. Just one of many awards Team EMOTION took home that weekend…
Peter Doan’s RHD K-swapped and turbocharged NSX…
The engine set-up looked particularly good with the sunsetting against the rear hatch glass…
I had to get some more of Chris Rios’s Integra. He’s actually had this Integra since 1996 which is remarkable in itself. Throughout the years he’s had some different aero options to run but in the 2020s, the full Mugen theme seems to be the one to go with since it’s such a timeless set-up…
The right-hand drive conversion still holds up with a perfect dashboard, Mugen cluster, Mugen FG360, Mugen shift knob, and Cusco cage. He probably acquired this stuff back when it wasn’t worth nearly as much as it is nowadays so the value of this car has definitely appreciated over time…
The build GS-R B-series engine has also held up over the years, still with the Hytech side-mounted turbo manifold with Garrett turbocharger, Venom intake manifold, and authentic Mugen valve cover…
It was a rare opportunity to get so many guys out from Team EMOTION together since everyone is older now and most live in different states, so they came and asked me to get a group photo of their cars together. I was honored and more than happy to help out and was able to capture this shot right before I packed-up and left…
2024
I’ve literally been sitting here for about 30 minutes now wondering why I never posted these photos. It’s odd because I actually did finish processing all these photos but they never went up. I only posted some here and there on my Instagram feed but looking through my feed now, I even posted in September of 2024 saying I’m gonna put these up soon—but just didn’t get around to it…
Then I started going through my phone’s photo album and remembered that shortly after this trip to New York, I went home and proceeded to immediately go back to Japan again because I had to hop on another flight to Indonesia. I think with all that traveling and constantly being on the move I just didn’t have the adequate time to host these on the site. And then months went on and I just stayed super busy. After Indonesia I went back to Japan and stayed a bit more until I came back to the U.S. It’s all coming back to me now. I landed in California and immediately had to finish the Voltex GR86 build so it could debut at an event we had planned…
For Wekfest East 2024, I actually shot a lot more than the previous year. I’d say almost double the amount of photos because I don’t think I spent any time Vlogging anything that trip. It’s always still a toss-up what medium people want their coverage in, especially since video is so much faster but I have the feeling the older folks still enjoy photos. Event coverage just feels more ‘permanent’ if you know what I mean. After print died-off in America, websites and digital photo coverage was the next best thing. It’s now summer in 2025 and I honestly still get people that attended the Wekfest East show last year asking when I’m gonna post the photos. Well, nearly a year after I said I would post them, I’m finally doing it. So, uhh…thank you for your patience as we head back into the next (and maybe final) Wekfest East show this coming weekend…
Here is what I saw in 2024…
Rico’s 993 RSR tribute which he acquired from RMC Miami…
Kenny Bascon’s FL5 Civic Type R running APR Performance lip, GT wing, and Rays Versus Turismo VT125S wheels…
Koomal Poonai brought two cars to the show for 2024, his Honda Integra Type R…
…and his Mugen-themed FK8 CTR, driven by Shyam Sookram with Chen Huang playing passenger princess…
Koomal Poonai’s DC2 features a mixture of Spoon Sports and Mugen aero parts, an idea once thought to be sacrilege by Honda tuning purists…
Andy Lin’s white FD RX-7 running full RE Amemiya AD1 aero and Rays Volk TE37SL…
Front view of Kenny’s Civic Type R with yellow headlight film installed…
Not too far behind was this S2000 with Voltex front with the same headlight execution…
Richy’s E90 M3 sedan in red on white Desmond Regamaster EVO II wheels…
Twice as much cleaning needed now for Koomal…
Bascon heading into the New Jersey Exposition Center…
With the S2000 following closely…
Wedged in-between the two was this white E92 M3 coupe on bronze TEs…
Koomal’s Civic Type R running full color-matched Mugen aero…
Admittedly in my personal opinion, the Spoon Sports front lip does not flow well with the Mugen sides which actually appear a bit larger than the lip…
Full 993 GT2 aero pairs nicely with the matching white Work Meister S1 wheels…
Kevin Beepat showed-up in 2024 with some dark green Regamaster EVO wheels…
If you put TEs on a Lamborghini, I will most certainly take a photo of it…
Raf Rivera is a big Porsche guy now but his friends will remember his Phoenix Yellow Integra Type R…
Kevin paired his green EVOs with his Mugen DC2 Type R…
Mitsubishi Evolution IX running a complete Varis aero kit and Volk ZE40s…
Ferdi pulled-up with his Mugen DC2 Type R with a slightly different look for 2024. Instead of the Mugen M7 wheels he switched over to bronze Mugen MF10 with blue anodized caps…
The Varis Evoluition IX didn’t even have traditional headlights. In their place were carbon fiber replacements, the driver’s side being a duct which routes into the engine bay…
I should add that Ferdi switched things up a bit in ’24, but I was only being half truthful…
…because he still had the Mugen M7s on the other side…
Chris and Andres back at it again for Wekfest East 2024…
Peter Doan’s turbo K-swapped NSX…
Lu’s black Honda Integra Type R with Mugen front bumper, sides, and M7 wheels…
Here you can see the big intercooler behind the Mugen bumper on Kiet Hong’s DC5 from Team EMOTION…
Ewing mentioned this would be his last event with his EJ Civic coupe but it appears like he still has the car so maybe he had a bit of seller’s remorse…
Andres switched back to bronze TEs and a First Molding front lip for the 2024 Wekfest. The year before he chose to run a Spoon Sports carbon lip up front and a set of SSR Hasemi wheels…
Nicholas Cruz’s green-wrapped JDM-face and K-swapped Integra with Special Projects front lip/splitter…
It’s crazy how many Mugen DC2 kits exist out in the East Coast. I know we have a few out here in California but it seems like the East has so many more. And everyone that does have one seems to know the other…
Brian Cardoza’s Spoon Sports-themed Vogue Silver Metallic EK9 Type R…
Kinetic Autoworks’ Varis Supreme A90 Supra on Work Meister M1 wheels…
Peter Diaz’s 20V 4A-GE powered AE86 Corolla on SSR MKII wheels…
Many know Ahmed Aglan more as a drag racer but he can build a hell of a show car too. He showed-up with this Carnival Yellow Civic hatchback with a Spoon Sports front lip, rear wing, and bronze Mugen MF10…
The Civic looks like it’s been carefully restored and looked in fantastic condition…
Harry Nguyen from Team EMOTION decided to pull his “OG1” Civic coupe out for its first show in years. This coupe was built nearly 20 years ago and it looks like it had been kept in pretty good shape after all this time. It represents a very different time in the automotive tuning community and a big piece of Team EMOTION’s storied history…
Tony Salcedo emerged in 2024 with a new paint job and refresh of his EK9. The car may not look too different at a glance but the once Vogue Silver Metallic is now VSM but with a hint of pearl added, giving the silver a different dynamic…
More of Aglan’s Civic just because it looks too good not to get more photos…
Kiet Hong’s 567-horsepower turbocharged Mugen RSX Type-S…
Team EMOTION line-up with Johne Santos and his MR-2 leading the way…
A couple of Civics that were pretty much locked-in to take an award or two home at the end of the day…
A Speedfactory tucked radiator lurks behind the front bumper in-between the Stanley foglights…
Peter’s K-turbo NSX with Advance Flatout front, front fenders, Marga Hills side skirts, and Voltex GT wing…
Gavin Davella full Voltex Racing Mitsubishi Evolution VIII which also has Endless brakes, an ARC front mount intercooler, and Volk TE37…
Ata Ehdaivand’s iridescent AP1 Honda S2000 wearing full Tamon Design aero, carbon fiber Amuse hard top, and gold-faced Rays Volk GT-C wheels…
A Varis FK8 Civic Type R that once resided in the Pacific Northwest now in the East Coast…
Another Champ White FK8 followed closely behind as they entered the venue…
Silver FD2-converted Civic sedan with an M&M trunk and Mugen RR-style rear bumper…
Jay Papas left his Max Racing hood at home but he did pull-up in this turbocharged RSX Type-S equipped with a BackYard Special front bumper, FEEL’S GT wing, molded-in Anointed Aero rear over fenders, Anointed front fenders, OEM A-Spec side skirts, and 18×10 Volk Racing CE28SL wheels…
This is actually a Zenki model DC5 but he preferred the Kouki Type R taillights so he actually converted the rear bumper to run them. The rear also features an OEM A-Spec rear lip…
Civic coupe with an Airwalker front, Top1 rear diffuser, and Work Meister S1 2-piece wheels…
I found a little bit of time to shoot inside as well so I made sure to get some more detailed photos of guys like Jonathan Ortiz and his DC5…
Turbocharged K20Z1 engine with a Peak Boost manifold mated to a Borg Warner turbo, Magnus intake manifold, TiAL wastegate, custom titanium piping, All-In Fab intercooler, and HKS filter…
Ahmed Aglan’s Civic looked pristine under the hood as well…
The engine bay has been completely reworked and cleaned-up to make way for a K-series swap to go in along with Hayward Performance/Jenvey individual throttle bodies…
Tony Salcedo’s custom VSM Pearl Civic Type R with the Spoon hood propped-up…
Inside is a B16B Type R engine with some TODA Racing stuff inside along with their Sports Injection set-up that routes to a Mugen air intake. The rest consists mostly of products from the Spoon Sports catalog…
Looking around on Instagram I don’t believe the owner of this Varis Evo IX has this car anymore and might have sold it…
Looked like they probably had a hell of a run with it considering how well everything was put together. The 4G63 looks like its floating with the engine bay all tucked away and cleaned-up. Your eyes head directly for the billet valve cover with a rare ARC plug cover mounted to it…
Kiet Hong’s DC5 from EMOTION…
No more Fuchsia valve cover these days, replaced with an OEM Type R cover. A Garrett turbo is mounted to a Full Race turbo manifold and titanium piping connects the turbo set-up to a polished intake manifold…
Peter Doan’s K-series turbocharged NSX with a peek through the custom rear hatch with integrated carbon duct…
Rinko’s Mitsubishi Evolution V on BBS LM wheels and what looks to be a carbon fiber Gorz front lip…
This widened Subaru WRX wagon looked fantastic on GTR-faced ADVAN RG wheels…
Chris Caughy’s two-toned seafoam and gray PS13 Silvia on gold Blitz Technospeed Z1 wheels caught a lot of peoples’ attention…
Nice and simple SR20DET inside the seafoam engine bay…
Chris Burkhart’s custom-painted and carefully restored EK has been constantly great over the years. He showed-up in 2024 with a Mugen SS front lip, silver Mugen MF10, a CTR face, Mugen wing, and Vision mirrors. If I remember correctly, he went home with the 2nd Place Honda Class award that weekend…
The engine bay hosts a B16B Type R set-up with a collection of custom fabricated components from Schmuck Built like the header, strut brace, and coolant hard lines…
The B16B also has a custom painted valve cover, coil-over-plug Digidizzy set-up, a tucked radiator and original HKS B-series cam gears…
K20-swapped Honda CR-X with JDM EF8 SiR front-end conversion, J’s Racing front lip, and GroupB NC-01 wheels…
Brian Griggs’ K20-swapped Integra GS-R running a JDM ITR front-end, Spoon Sports carbon fiber front lip, Spoon brakes, J’s Racing fenders, J’s vented hood, Voltex GT wing, and bronze Volk TE37…
Victor Colon’s K-swapped Integra GS-R with a JDM ITR front-end swap, shaved engine bay, black Desmond wheels, and yellow Recaro SR4s…
Ewing’s Civic coupe running an Exceed V1 front lip, Mode Parfume mirrors, GroupB NC-01 wheels, OEM mudflaps (which are incredibly important in making a coupe look good), and a K20 swap with a valve cover inspired by the green/yellow JUN Auto fade…
Nicholas Cruz’s K24-swapped Integra wrapped in green with JDM front end, Special Projects P1 front lip/splitter, J’s Racing front fenders, J’s Racing GT wing, and Desmond Regamaster EVOs…
Cruz’s engine bay is painted silver and fully shaved smooth with an engine that probably put in the night before…
More of Jay Papas’ DC5 with a huge intercooler filling the opening of his BackYard Special front bumper…
Turbocharged K20 inside the shaved bay of Papas’ DC5 utilizing a sidewinder-style manifold, custom Trustfab titanium piping, All-In Fab intake manifold andmore…
Toyota Corolla GT-S coupe cruising into the venue on Desmond EVO wheels which is a combo you don’t see very often…
Rico’s 993 GT2 RSR staged and cleaned-up…
RHD Jon’s 991 GT3 Street Cup on centerlock BBS E88 wheels…
Raf Rivera’s Integra Type R actually made it out to the West Coast eventually after it was sold. Type R Jose ended up with the car and parted it out before raffling it off. I wonder if the new owner even knows they now have Raf’s DC2…
Willy’s K24-powered EK4 Civic SiR running a J*Blood front, Car Make Across front fenders, OsakaJDM mirrors, Cusco wing, double-staggered Volk CE28, Racetech seats and so much more…
The same thing occurred in ’24 as it did in ’23 where I didn’t get to shoot too much inside the venue but I did get some of the roll-out…
This Porsche 994 slammed on NISMO LMGT1 wheels was an interesting sight…
As was this McLaren with rear beadlock wheels and Mickey Thompson slicks…
BMW E30 M3 coupe on AC Schnitzer Type 1 wheels and a Toyota 1JZ-GTE swap…
Chris Burkhart’s Civic outside for golden hour…
Chris paired-up with Jason Schmuck’s S2000. Jason was the one responsible for most of the custom fabrication work on his Civic…
Lu’s Integra Type R from Team SSB…
Tim Grace’s new EK9 Civic Type R and Lu’s DC2 Type R…
Two really well-executed Civics from Jorge Perez and Ozzy Manuel…
All the Wekfest guys gathering around Jon’s Porsche 911 after the show and chatting before dinner…
And one parting shot of Ferdi Rivera’s Mugen DC2R on the Mugen M7 wheels…
It’s crazy that it took this long to get these photos up and for that, I apologize. Hopefully you guys are satisfied now that they’re finally public and everyone can see them. This coming weekend is the Wekfest East 2025 show and I’ll try to shoot like I usually do but maybe this time I’ll get the photos up in about a week or so, lol. No guarantees! But I’ll try. Thanks for looking everyone!!…

Beautiful recap!
Thank you Joey for these missing photos and especially the transparency for the delay of posting them.
We’ve been waiting for this photo coverage since your vlog from the same time lol.
Greatly appreciate the recap and sharing your reasons. This photo coverage post still poses other questions for me however.
These are from 2 years ago but what about the much anticipated photo coverage of The Chronicles Year 7..from 2015?
Yuta Akaishi’s 1996 fully custom time attack themed Honda Civic sedan seemed to have been at the center spotlight at that time with many talks and video coverage of it being at the body shop to have his front wide fenders seamlessly affixed, but all of it was then somehow overshadowed RyWire’s orange DC2 Integra which debuted at the same show and time AND also faded…
Yuta’s white EK sedan quickly disappeared into a distant memory after the The Chronicles Year 7 meet with what looked like Yuta never getting to complete or even drive the car.
Can you just please address all of this in a post or video soon? This post re-emphasizes you are a pretty conscientious individual and I’m sure you are aware of what I am talking about.
What is the situation with Yuta Akaishi, and why did he seemingly fade out of view since the pandemic? Is the guy still into cars? and are you guys still even friends???
I think that dude really spiced up your content being that he was not only Japanese but also so specific in his car tastes, and having a history of being around the Cali street scene of his age.
ALSO, in defense of East Coast enthusiasts even tho I have never been there myself.
I think they do a pretty good job of building some quality show and track cars from what we can see. There might not be in the same numbers and personality as the West Coast, but the way they are able to translate “proper” styles and parts selections makes for a similar but a bit diversification in this area of automotive interest if that makes any sense.
I hope they don’t take offense at Wekfest reconsidering their place in the East Coast’s automotive scene. The real car people there that know you Joey and your Wekfest presence there, I am sure appreciate you guys being out there.
In their justice, it’s pretty heart warming to see many of those dudes still carry this torch and are just about on par if not better in the quality with their builds.
Surely do hope you guys can find resolve with the venue situation to motivate your stops in the East for the future to come. 😉
Thanks again for remembering about this post!
So many cool pictures.
So many new wallpapers.
So many cool cars.
Thanx for the consistency! Thanx for this new post! Please, keep’em coming!
I’m heartbroken to hear this could be Wekfest’s last year out East. You’re so right about the venue, so I completely understand from that point of view. I guess I hoped Prime would be able to helps source a better location.
This year Gridlife and Wekfest were on the same weekend, so tough decisions had to be made. I’m sure I’m not the only one who struggled to choose as a former exhibitor for Wekfest.
So I guess here’s an East Coaster hoping that Wekfest East continues…
Y’all do know the east cost is more than ny and nj right? Of course no one wants to go to either of those pain in the ass over priced cities to go to a shitty venue on top of it all. But hey we get to pay tolls out the ass, pay for parking and everyone is an asshole too. It’s not the lack of cars in the east….it really cant be that hard to figure out why wekfest east isnt that hot. Hell you even pointed out half the issues lol
