Vince Minko’s turbocharged Integra looked a little bit out of place at the 2016 Wekfest Florida event. Not because of the lack of quality. That just isn’t the case. It’s the styling of the vehicle overall that backdates it to the early to mid-2000s. The (mostly) molded Bomex aero kit and the custom widebody panels are by today’s standards, a bit much, but I was really happy to see it at the show because of what the car meant to Vinny and why the car was there. I had a chance to talk to him while I was judging his car and he told me that he hasn’t brought the car out much to car shows since the mid 2000s when Hot Import Nights was wildly popular in that area. He had won multiple awards with this car and from a mod list standpoint, it had every aspect covered. He popped the carbon fiber hood of the Integra and other than the turbo kit and red valve cover, the engine bay was a mess, haha. I loved it. It is so “retro” to that time period that it looked like it had been taken to 2016 in a time machine to be showcased at a car show of the future. I asked him why he still had the car and he told me simply that this car meant a lot to him in his personal life and it holds quite a bit of sentimental value to him. He said that this was the car he went to prom in when he was in high school, where he went with the woman that would eventually be his wife, and he has had some of the best times of his life in this Integra with his car club. He seemed almost a little embarrassed to pop the hood because it didn’t compare to most of the Hondas in the building that had seen a significant amount of alterations in that department, but honestly, I think this was my favorite car of the event that day. I know a lot of enthusiasts who build their cars and keep their cars because of how much the cars mean to them. It may appear to be dated in style but it is almost perfect in that way because it represents a lifetime of work and memories. In the end, that is why many of us build cars….

Jason Lee’s bagged S2000 with three-stage purple paint and a custom set of Work Meister S1 wheels. Just needs some work under the hood and it’ll be a real competitor in the future…

IMG_4325-Edit

Absolutely loved the color selection of the body and wheels on this Aimgain Lexus IS. Everything flows so well for such a wild-looking car…

IMG_4322-Edit

Glad to see the progression of Hamilton’s S2000 in just the short time that I’ve had the chance to meet him. Crazy because I randomly ended-up being assigned to write his Super Street magazine feature not too long ago…

I don’t imagine it would be very easy to keep a black Integra in immaculate condition with the Florida climate. I asked if this GSR had been repainted and indeed it has. It is now meticulously maintained and other than the Spoon Sports theme, it is essentially a restored GSR Integra with all matching numbers…

IMG_4346-Edit

Xul Colon seems to be doing big things since I first met him a couple years back at another Wekfest Florida event. He went and took a hobby of his and turned it into a real business. Now I see him XMP brand everywhere on Hondas down in the Florida area. Good for him…

IMG_4350-Edit

IMG_4352-Edit

RHDPepin’s DC5 RSX looking really aggressive with the widened body. I can’t for whatever reason, figure out why so many Hondas in this area decide to not run intake arms though. I guess it might be because they believe it makes the engine bay more “naked” but honestly, it just makes the bay look incomplete. Nothing like a nice intake to just give the Honda with a clean bay that “finished” look…

IMG_4356-Edit

IMG_4354-Edit

Lando’s Integra looked great inside and out and once he gets his interior more situated, it’ll also be right up there as one of the more competitive Hondas in this area. He also has decided to not run an intake arm and his throttle body is so big that it might eventually suck in what could be a giant bird if not for the upper radiator hose. All jokes aside though, a really nice Honda build that is almost there…

Meanwhile, check out this custom fabricated front core support on Xavier Ortiz’s K-swapped Civic…
