Wekfest Houston 2017 Coverage… Part 2…

I can’t believe it’s already nearing the end of 2017. This year has just flown by but it doesn’t seem like things are slowing down one bit. Normally December is a slow-down time for me, as the car show season has pretty much ended with the exception of Wekfest Florida, but with all the craziness of the year, including some natural disasters, Wekfest Houston was pushed back to this month and I find myself posting Wekfest coverage on the week when I have to fly out for yet another Wekfest event. I’m looking forward to getting out there to see what’s new in Florida, but I am also a bit anxious to get back as I am already gearing-up for a huge 2018, which marks ten great years of The Chronicles. Today, we look at the rest of the photos from the 2017 Houston event. Enjoy and happy holidays if I don’t see you guys this month…

IMG_0022-Edit

Nice to see Amanda’s CR-X once again. I knew going into it that there was a strong chance she would end-up winning the “Restomod” award as she’s built her car to meet all the requirements of the new Wekfest award, which honors those who are into restoring their vehicles and maintaining them to a higher, near showroom, level, all the while still modifying the car tastefully…

Her’s is actually a Canadian domestic market-styled build with the addition of 15-inch Volk Racing TE37 wheels in bronze along with a J’s Racing lip to set-off the EF8 face…

One of the guys that I know personally who was affected by the wild weather and flood a few months ago was my buddy Tom Syhachack. His house was damaged and he actually had to sail away from his home by boat during the evacuations, leaving his cars behind to get away from the rising waters. He seems to be doing fine now though, with his S2000 still intact, a house with some water damage, and a missing cow…

…and then the rain came…

…it didn’t stay very long…

…but it was fucking pouring down for a good hour or so…

IMG_0058-Edit

Cars quickly rushed into the venue as the rain came down, trying to stay as far away from the water as possible…

IMG_0061-Edit

This single-cam turbocharged EF sedan crawled into the venue without a hood and a engine bay covered in rain…

IMG_0063-Edit

Don’t know too much about these things but I love the way modded Groms look. I don’t imagine it was very fun riding this thing in the rain though, if the owner did in fact, ride into the show on it…

Some of the Wekfest attendees and exhibitors waiting for the rain to stop….

IMG_0072-Edit

While some were waiting for the rest of their friends and car crew members to show-up, their cars stayed outside drenched in the downpour…

IMG_0137-Edit-2

Period-perfect FC RX-7 on Advan Racing RA3-DT wheels…

IMG_0139-Edit-2

Towards the end of the day I snapped one more photo of this white K-swapped Civic with C-West face…

IMG_0142-Edit

Montano’s NSX sans overly happy owner…

IMG_0144-Edit

…and to cap off the set, one more of Khiem Pham’s 2JZ-powered FD RX-7 running TCP Magic aero and RE Amemiya front bumper…

  1. Man oh man…that EF Civic looks so good! Really digging the two-tone look. As for those wheels on that car, what in the world are they? And that shot of the black FC looks amazing, Joey! Definitely a desktop background worthy shot! I normally don’t like black on black cars…but something about that FC really got me to love it. Nice to see people still running classic 3-spoke Advan wheels..Thank you for another great post.

  2. The hood on Dante Bui’s gray RSX is actually an ings+1 piece. Makes me wonder who came out with the basic three-hole design first.
