It seems like ages ago now that the gang and I went to Japan for our annual Tokyo Auto Salon trip. So much has happened since then and nothing has been the same since I got back home. As most of you know by now, if you follow me on Instagram, Tiffanie got into a pretty horrible car accident not long after I got back from Japan and she has been hospitalized since February. I don’t really want to get into the specifics of it all but let’s just say that we are all very fortunate that she is alive and recovering today. The accident was so horrific that there was basically a 50/50 shot of her survival. Most of my time is spent at the hospital these days to keep her company and to aide in her recovery so I haven’t had many opportunities here at the office to post content. I literally dropped everything once this happened and most of the photos from my Japan trip have not even been touched yet. It’s a crazy time for Tiffanie, her family, our friends, and everyone else involved that I honestly just don’t have much motivation to dive head first into my work. Luckily I did get a chance to work on some of the photos before all this happened and I spend a few hours every day focusing on orders and finishing up my book. Things are going well. She is recovering and getting stronger by the day and I really appreciate all the understanding and support from everyone. I love that The Chronicles has such a loyal following with good human beings. It means a lot to myself and my friends to see this outpouring of support. It may not seem like it helps, but the positivity is a huge motivator for all of us…

I didn’t want the site to be baron of new content for too long, so I wanted to get some more photos up for you guys to look at on your busy work day. For this year, Der and I really wanted to make it a point to go visit some new shops and to see new things. I love being in Japan but I go so often that I sometimes feel like I am just so comfortable now that I don’t seek out new things to see. Der skipped last year and decided to make his triumphant return to Japan so we made it a point to go to specific places that we have always wanted to see for ourselves. In the previous post, you saw us visiting Suzuka Circuit and Common Snapper. Today we will look at one of the fastest Honda tuning shops in Japan, located in Osaka, known simply as “ASLAN”. Horiton from ASLAN was once a Osaka Kanjozoku but in the past decade or so, he has moved his focus from street racing to becoming a dedicated circuit racer. Nowadays, he and his crew spend all their time developing their race cars, putting K-series engines in them, and reducing as much weight as possible to get their cars faster and faster. They have a very unique style and have little interest in anything that we are doing over here in North America, and it’s honestly very refreshing to see. Their builds have a very specific Osaka-look to them and the amount of aero they put into some of their race cars is pretty incredible. I only wished we had more time there or more space to get more detailed photos. They seemed super busy the day we dropped in on them so we tried our best not to disturb them while they worked. The shop is also very tight, with Hondas filling-up every free space available. As such, I spent most of my time there doing video, as it offers a better detailed look at the shop, and shot some photos here and there. If you want to see the Vlog from ASLAN, click HERE….

Everything else here is going smoothly. Merchandise is moving out to the post office pretty much every day and the book has just been finalized and is going off to the publisher any day now. We showed-up to ASLAN that day unannounced so they were in the midst of prepping their cars for a few time attack events coming-up…

This EF9 running a K-series engine set-up with individual throttle bodies also featured an OsakaJDM/Five Mart rear wing and wide fenders…

ASLAN is definitely one of the more progressive shops when it comes to being very devoted to powering their Hondas with newer K-series motors. Along with Garage WORK on the Tokyo-side, they are probably one of the fastest Honda/Civic-dedicated tuning shops in all of Japan…

We were trying to figure out what type of ITBs these were on the EF9 and a few small scuffs under the teal paint on the fuel rail revealed some red anodize, which meant that they were probably TODA Racing individual throttles…

One more shot for aesthetics…

The guys from ASLAN are all older Honda diehards from the famed Osaka-based TEMPLE RACING car club, who were known more for their Kanjozoku roots before eventually being dedicated to the circuit…

Their flagship race car, if they had to name one, would be this K-powered EG which has been cut-up and modified extensively to save weight and to house massive 18×11 Volk Racing wheels and Advan rubber…

The first and thing you’ll notice, obviously, are the custom horns on the individual throttle bodies which turn down. But a closer look at the engine bay reveal the custom fabrication around the shock towers and the chassis reinforcement which runs into the frame…

Such an interesting look to have these turn-down horns with the metal screens…

Yes, they do look a bit like limp dicks, haha…. but in a totally awesome limp dick type of way…

To save weight, even the radiator core support has been replaced in place of a custom carbon fiber piece…

One-off vented wide fenders for the EG6 to house 11-inch wide wheels…

This other EG sitting in the middle of the shop didn’t have nearly as extensive aero modifications as the other Civic but had a full carbon fiber front bumper and hood with additional venting added…

As you’d expect, it wouldn’t be an ASLAN race car without a K inside. This on retains a RBC intake manifold and does not have ITBs like the previous builds we looked at…

This EK had some pretty wild aero on it but the shop space was so tight and it was so dark in there that it was hard to get good photos of it…

They seemed busy so we didn’t want to ask them to move cars around so we just worked with the space that we had. Here’s a look at the front end of the EK and its front aero layout…

I remembering posting photos of this Integra a few years ago on the site and it has remained mostly unchanged in the past few years. I think the photos that I had of it were of its earlier stages of development where it didn’t even have the custom rear quarter panel treatment yet. I wonder if this Integra still has its B-series engine or if it has also been K-swapped…

18-inch Volk Racing TE37s which has some wear and tear from years of circuit battling. Behind the famed spokes are Spoon Sports front brakes…

Custom front fenders which have been cut and extended outward with some venting added for clearance of the TEs…

I gotta say, it’s a little odd to see this front face on in Integra in Japan since we are all so accustomed to seeing the Type R front ends and not the bug-eyes. Also note the length of the custom front splitter…

Before ASLAN became ASLAN, it was known as “TRY-BOX” and most of their cars had this puzzle piece livery. I think TRY-BOX eventually split-off and half of it became what we know today as ASLAN…

This is also another build that has been floating around via photos on the internet for years now. Nice to see that the car is still alive and well and sitting inside ASLAN….
