This photo set came out pretty decent so I decided to host them here on the site even though I post a majority of them already on Instagram. I figured you guys would appreciate seeing them in a larger format than a small Smartphone screen. These are from our weekend doing car activities in Southern California. First, I woke up at an insanely early hour to bring the Battlecraft x Exceed GR86 over to Art of Attack to celebrate their 2-year anniversary. I was originally going to drive the GR86 over the weekend anyway but Kristian messaged me to see if I could get there earlier since the guys from Art of Attack had wanted it in their display area. Premium parking never sounds like a bad idea so I grabbed my camera gear, hopped in the GR and got there just in time for the festivities. It was a chill day and great to see all the usual suspects. After, I sat in traffic for an hour so I could go back to the shop and do absolutely nothing until the NBA Playoffs started, lol. Here are the photos, enjoy!!…
Been a while since I’ve seen Jose’s Integra RS. Nice that he cleaned it up and brought it out for display. It kinda just fits right in with the rest of the cars and if you didn’t know, you wouldn’t expect this RS to be a very capable, fast, race car. Most of the time, it has a Special Projects front lip and splitter up front as well as a GT wing in the back but he has so many parts for the Integra that he can switch it up for any occasion. For this event, he threw on an OEM ITR front lip, Ganador mirrors and a Mugen Gen. II wing…

The following day, I woke up early once again to head down to Long Beach to participate in David’s “Brews Cruise” event which is a bi-monthly gathering hosted at Wolf’s Brew Coffee. I didn’t plan on taking any photos at this event and just doing some video but I’ll pull my Canon R5 out when something cool presents itself…
‘Something cool’ in this instance was Eddie Garcia’s Mugen-equipped Honda RF2 Stepwgn which I believe he is the second-owner of since it was imported to the States from Japan…
I can’t say I’ve ever seen another Stepwgn with this full Mugen aero kit before. The only other time I’ve ever seen anything like it was on a box of a Fujimi 1/24 scale model of this same van. It was silver and everything so it makes me wonder if the original owner was replicating the model or if the model was based off of his Stepwgn. No matter the case, it was pretty awesome to see Mugen aero like this. The ’90s was such a experimental time for Mugen. They either did some stuff that would stand the test of time or go wild with kits like that that had a front bumper with a massive “MUGEN” embossed on it…
The sideskirts themselves are interesting as well with a small vent at the very front and two exposed screw and holes on the rear half. Why did they decide to have these two screws in particular exposed is beyond me…
This Mugen front end utilizes a Cibie fog light but the kit also features an acrylic cover that is shaped to the fogs and bolted onto the bumper…
The rear bumper is quite aggressive on the Mugen Stepwgn featuring three large vents and an area that allows room for a pretty big exhaust. The only thing this Stepwgn was really missing to complete the full Mugen package is the rear spoiler and a set of obscure Mugen MZ-3X wheels…
Of course the main reason I was there was to not only support my friend David, but also to see the unofficial debut of Ryan Der’s Civic project. He’s been spending a ton of time on the car lately and finally got it to the point where he was comfortable with driving it on the streets for the first time. It is a rare occasion for us to be able to cruise together in our own respective project cars so I woke up extra early to make sure Der was okay as he drove the Civic for the first time in a really long time…
Everything was fine of course. All it needs for now is a proper alignment. The Civic has been sitting inside the shop for the past few years getting worked on so it felt like a full circle moment to finally see it outside in an environment that wasn’t the shop…
I made a Vlog episode on this of course, for those of you that did miss it. I invite you now to go give it a watch if you haven’t already. Thanks for looking!!…
It’s a breath of fresh air when Joey does photo coverages. Vlogs are cool and all but nothing beats a good ole photo coverage.
As an audience member, you are just able to absorb it more. These photos feel a little more memorable especially when you can pin a sense of date to them. I dunno, that’s just me though..
Would be even better if you can try to incorporate some scenes of people (and animals) into the photos as you used to do back in the day!
Thank you for not forgetting about picture coverages and particularly their unique subjects. : ) Applauds to Ryan Der’s comeback.
Really glad he is able to get back into a car he knows best and what many know him by.
