Nisei Showoff 2012: GENERATIONS Coverage…Part 4…

Here we go with the fourth installment of our ongoing Nisei Showoff 2012: GENERATIONS coverage. I took a break yesterday to catch up on a number of things since I was so busy planning the event and what not the last couple of weeks. Today we are going to take a look at the rest of the cars at Nisei because contrary to what you’ve been seeing in the first three parts, there actually were other cars there besides the GENERATIONS groups, haha… It was so hot that day that I really didn’t want to walk around that long in the sun but I didn’t want to pass up on the opportunity to check out what the show had to offer. There have been tons of shows this year so I was probably going to run into the same cars as usual but I still made the rounds anyway. You never know when you’re going to run into a friend or something, you know? And I’m willing to walk around in the heat to chat with people. The bulk of the coverage today is actually of the other cars at the event, some Hondas, most aren’t. I’m gonna close out the day with some more stuff form the GENERATIONS group and Part 5, maybe 6 if there is one, will consist of the end of the day with the awards ceremony and everything else. Those are actually some of my favorite shots from the day because the sun was out of the way and it helped to produce some great photos…

Thanks to everybody that’s been supporting the site and picking up the limited edition GENERATIONS 2012 decals. Hopefully you guys picked up more than one so you can hold onto them for safe keeping. I know personally for me I set aside a couple just for the memories of the day. They are still available if you’re interested at the link below…

A view of what spectators walked into when first arriving at the gate at Nisei Showoff…this was a serene moment for me. I kinda just stood there and took everything in and for those few moments, I didn’t worry about anything….This shot right here is hard working paying off…

Anyways, here are some other cars that were at Nisei that day…

Annie’s Integra on white Advan RGs from Street Image Performance…

For as long as I’ve been going to Showoff events, I’ve been seeing this rotary-powered Datsun 510, and that’s a long fucking time…haha…

If you look at his window you can actually spot all the decals from a majority of the Showoff events he has attended…

IMG_2937-Edit

DPK JP’s rootbear EG Civic on black Enkei J-Speeds…

IMG_2938-Edit

Sam’s CT Engineering supercharger…

IMG_2967-Edit

Had to stop by Junko’s Top Fuel Integra one more time….

IMG_2965-Edit

I thought it was cool that they wrote down her old quarter-mile time… Yes, this turbocharged Integra ran a 11.64 at 125mph back in the early 2000s…I think one of the aspects that is missing from the Honda community these days is that the show cars back then not only looked good, but were fast as well…

IMG_2982-Edit

Jeremy Duarte’s turbo DB8 Type R from Bandits has a bit of speed to back up its looks…

IMG_2984-Edit

IMG_2985-Edit

  1. “i think one of the aspects that is missing from the Honda community these days is that the show cars back then not only looked good, but were fast as well…”

This is the truth right here. Walking around the lot at Nisei, it was good to see a mix of cars that had dyno sheets, time slips, and so forth. Good to see that these cars are driven as well as pretty to look at.

    • You have to remember a lot of those same cars that had all of those timesheets/dynos had plenty of places to race and kind of built the cars around the money they won street racing out in ontario and sylmar, moval, san bernardino, etc! Some people still do that shit today which I think is hilarious. Others have moved on to become full fledged race teams or shops! Now a days few and far between have met the same success but spend more time engineering new ways to build cars and innovate new products rather than slapping on a 5hp mod and taking it to the track to see the .3 seconds it shaved from their 1/4 or 1/8 mile times.

Things are just so different now.

      • I understand where you’re coming from. I’m from the Bay Area and there are still cats running over at 7th Street. What I was getting at was that the ‘hype’ thing to do now is to have a car that isn’t even drivable — super duper stretched tires and stupid suspension geometry. I’ve got more respect for a car that actually gets driven. It’s just refreshing to see that there are still those who can have a pretty car that can also perform.

  2. Any more on that sweet BB6?

  3. Some good stuff on this part Joey!

  4. Hilux was not part of Erik’s Racing crew. The tent was just ginormous!
