JDMYard 10th Anniversary Honda Showoff Coverage…Part 1…

_DSC2049

It’s always nice to take a look at what goes on in the Honda community outside of the U.S. After hearing feedback from many of you on Facebook, some of your favorites posts on The Chronicles this year has been international content. One of the Hondas that I’ve been following for some time now has been Yonas Liu’s EG from JDMYard, all the way down in Australia. Yonas’ EG is probably one of the most recognized and respected Honda builds worldwide and it’s been very deserving of all the praise. The car started out as a drag car, then became a time attack vehicle, and all the while, maintained a very show-worthy appearance. Yonas has really gone to the extremes with it these days but it has been a fun ride following the progression of his car. JDMYard, for those who don’t know, is a tuning shop that was started by Yonas ten years ago and is one of the premier shops down in that region. They had humble beginnings a decade ago and started out as just a small side business where Yonas and friends worked on cars in an underground apartment parking lot. As time went on, they began to develop a following and Yonas eventually started up a legit business. Yonas cornered a market down in Australia back then because he noticed the need for a tuning shop there since their weren’t very many shops that offered aftermarket Honda products to their community. They started bringing in parts from all over the world and 10 years later, we can all be a witness to the fruits of his labor…

A couple weekends ago, JDMYard had their 10-year anniversary meet at their shop and decided to turn it into a “Honda Show-off” competition with awards and vendors. I wanted to get some coverage of it to show you guys and luckily, a fellow enthusiast offered to cover the event for us. The photos aren’t the usual style you’ll be familiar with here on The Chronicles, but it gives some insight as to how the event went and the Hondas that were there. Big thanks go out to Aleks Brajic for taking the time to take photos and congrats to Yonas Liu and JDMYard for all the success over the the decade. With the way the worldwide economy is, being a business owner is tough and even tougher in the automotive industry. The fact that they have been around for ten years shows that they have staying power and will be around for a long time. Take a gander at the photos below and enjoy. I don’t know the owners and cars all that well because I’ve never been to Australia myself, but I’ll try to give you guys a good description of what you’re looking at…

One of the new builds that they plan to campaign at the track soon was this Mugen-equipped DC5 Integra Type R…You’ve probably seen photos of this car before but it was in a less-complete state. Now the build is coming along and should be ready for 2013…

Yonas told me that he only managed to find 20 minutes the entire day to take a break because the shop was so busy with customers… That’s a very good problem to have if you’re a business owner, haha…
