With all that’s been going on lately out here, it seems like Wekfest East 2017 was so long ago. I just got back from Washington a couple days ago and the madness continues down in Houston, Texas as the storm continues to cause havoc for the residents out there. I hope that everyone out there is okay and there their families aren’t affected by Hurricane Harvey. From the videos and photos that have been circulating on the news, it looks fucking crazy out there. I know a lot of people out there and seeing everyone help one another in times of distress is a perfect example of how amazing people are in Texas. It is good to know that there are still good people out there. I think sometimes we forget that with the news portraying only the negative and pushing this narrative that our country is so often divided. I don’t want to get too into discussing all this turmoil going on in the world right now, but I do wish the best for everyone down in Texas who is going through the insanity of Hurricane Harvey right now. My thoughts are with you all…
Today we’re going to go through some more photos that I captured during the weekend of Wekfest East 2017. The bulk of these photos consist of a variety of different builds that were rolling into the show that morning. You’ll see a little bit of everything from Hondas to VIP stuff, and even some European builds. I think the great thing about Wekfest East is the diversity that it offers in terms of different makes and models. I enjoy the wide range of vehicles present and seeing different personalities expressed in all these cars. They obviously don’t cater to everyone’s tastes but you’ll surely learn something from walking around the show throughout the day. I still have a lot of photos to go through and I want to get a much content up as possible, so I’ll leave you with the photos for today. Look through them, read through the captions, and enjoy…
Mike Trinajstic’s VIP LS400 with a ton of custom body work to the front bumpers, front fenders, side skirts, and shaved door caps. The kit also features custom carbon end pieces all the way around. Mike owns a body shop, International Auto Body, so it makes sense how the body and paint is on point…
A glimpse of the rear reveals a much more aggressive rear bumper compared to the modified Mode Parfume front (or what looks to be a custom Mode front with retrofitted fogs). Quad-tipped exhaust, LED tails and classic Leon Hardiritt Ordens make for a great East Coast VIP build…
Another shot of Nate’s custom Q45 build on SSR Professor MS3 wheels…
Subaru WRX STI on SSR Professor TF1 on its way into the New Jersey Exposition Center…
Nawshin Basher and his Acura NSX on Volk Racing TE37SL…
Andrey Sokolov’s Lexus SC coupe was one of my favorite builds of the entire event. I just wished I had some photos of the car fully parked and airred-down. It features a custom front end with a retrofitted Porsche Panamera bumper, full custom interior, and K-Break Hybreed Fivesta wheels…
Rudi Qyu’s Spoon Sports-themed EP3 Civic on white Volk Racing CE28N…
Scion FR-S with the classic Toyota katakana logo plastered on the doors…
Slammed Honda Civic Wagon tucking Work Meister S1 2-piece wheels with blue faces….
A better look at the custom Porsche front end on the Lexus SC coupe. You’ll notice a front-mount intercooler lurking behind because Andrey’s SC also houses a 2JZ-GTE swap…
From listening to one of John from VIPstylecars’ recent podcast, I found out that this SC was once red and not nearly as refined as you see it now. I guess he used to get a lot of hate for his build too but all that proves is that we all start somewhere and with time, patience, and a good understanding of execution, anyone can build a great car. Even if it didn’t always start off so nice…
Nice to see some modded Honda CR-Vs at Wekfest East. This one looked like it was resprayed in Electron Blue Pearl, hosted a JDM CR-V front, and was lowered significantly seated on concave mag blue Volk Racing TE37 wheels…
This S2000 was all-black throughout, taillights and all, but sat on NSX-spec white Desmond Regamaster EVOs…
I really liked this Civic SI sedan with JDM FD2 CTR front/rear conversion, Volk Racing TE37SL, Spoon Sports front brakes, and Mugen rear wing…
I’m pretty sure I saw this IS300 Sport Cross last year, but it was a completely different color. The owner, Martin Cabrera, added rear over-fenders for 2017 and had the whole car sprayed in a custom rootbeer tone. I don’t think I got any more photos of it this year but the car also has a 2JZ-GTE swap…
Wild “stanced-out” (is that still a term?) Honda CR-V also running a JDM Honda Modulo sides, front valance, and custom Work VS-XX wheels…
Nissan R32 Skyline sedan looking fantastic and period-correct, I might add, on Blitz Technospeed Z1 wheels. If you want your photo on The Chronicles, it’s very easy. Just put Blitz Technospeed wheels on fucking anything and I guarantee you I’ll probably get a photo of it. One of my favorite wheels ever, and a wheel that I think is totally slept-on in the past decade…
One of the best Hondas in the building that day was this Laguna Seca Blue Civic hatchback featuring a carbon Spoon Sports front lip, Chargespeed front fenders, J’s Racing carbon hood, and 15×8 Volk TE37 in Mag Blue….
The Civic also had a white bolt-in cage, Bride seats, J’s Racing exhaust and much more….
Nice to see a clean, lowered, stock-bodied Porsche 964 in red…
Powerhouse Amuse GT1 S2000 sporting a rare Amuse carbon hard-top…
It was nice to see Lester Bracero again in his TSX since he hadn’t made the trip out in the last two years…
Within the hoard of show cars was this gutted Porsche 930 race car…
Not much new for Lester’s CL9, just recoated Volk TEs and the same J’s Racing set-up he’s had for a few years now…
J’s Racing-everything RHD-converted DC5 RSX from Team EMOTION…
This has been one of the best Honda builds on this side of the country for a few years now so it was good to see it pop-up once again at Wekfest. Much like Lester’s TSX, there also hasn’t been much change to Brian McCoy’s DC5, nor does there necessarily have to be since it’s such a complete build. After chatting with him during the show, he mentioned that he’s been toying with the idea of a complete makeover….
Nice color scheme on this Subaru WRX STI sedan featuring Mag Blue Volk TE37 Saga…
The metallic flake was really popping under the sun on this Z33 build on Work S1…
Jesus Lopez’s “Project FB RX7” with a large single-turbocharged 13B Rotary set-up with a Pro-Jay Super Duty manifold…
Another shot of the LSB Civic hatchback…
Michael Nguyen’s widebody Mitsubishi CT9A Evolution with carbon hood and carbon doors representing East Coast Alliance…
Representing the “GT VIP” category very well was this custom widebody Accord sedan from Boston owned by Peter Giuffre. Really wish I had more time to get a closer look at this build as well as the other cars that rolled out with him…
Nice custom finish on the faces of these Work Meister S1 wheels on this matte bronze widebody 350Z…
Wekfest East had no shortage of custom mini-van builds. To be honest, I don’t think there is another Wekfest event that has nearly as many. This Odyssey from Grounded Society was one of the better examples…
WEDS Kranze Vishunu’s look pretty good on this RL1 Honda Odyssey…
Honda Modulo CRV running huge Avant Garde 3-piece wheels and D2 big brake kits front and back…
Electron Blue Pearl-painted Honda Odyssey sitting nice and low on VIP Modular wheels…
Iridescent color-shifting vinyl wrap on this Honda S2000 from Bemore…
Datsun Sunny pick-up truck on Hayashi Racing wheels running over-fenders, front BRE-style lip, and a classic livery from Japanese Classics LLC…
Drew Evans’ Car of the Festival-winning custom Liberty Walk Infiniti G37 sedan. In this photo, you can see his custom headliner which shows the constellation which was purposely done to represent Evans’ love of astronomy…
Pravan from PrimeNYC’s Wald Lexus LS430 on new Work Emitz wheels…
Another one of my favorites from this side of the country is this widened and radiused G50 Q45 buil with Aimgain aero and Work Varianza wheels. A great example of a very well-executed U.S. VIP build…
Under the hood of the G50 is a Toyota 2JZ-GTE engine swap with the cleaned-up, color-matched engine bay…
You can see here how the shaved taillight still works on this GX81 Cresta Kaido Racer…
Mike Trinajstic’s LS400 laid-out on the showroom floor…
Nate’s Q45 definitely sits very high on the list of top North American VIP builds…
I can’t help but appreciate how great the Mugen kit looks for the CU2 TSX chassis. The prototype looked great when Mugen released photos of it but it just looks even better on Cristian Loza’s TSX because the car sits so nicely on bronze Volk TEs. Nice addition of the Spoon Sports brakes too. I can honestly say I never expected this from the guys over at Canibeat but I’m super stoked that guys like Cristian have a good grasp of how to create great-looking Honda builds…
Rocket BUnny Z33 with a really cool three color paint scheme utilizing blue, red, and black tones. The front end is insane with the huge carbon canards and front splitter. I guess when you have a huge swan-neck rear wing like that, you have to have the aggressive front to match…
Custom turbo set-up under the hood of the RB 350Z, utilizing a Kinetix intake manifold up-top. Love how the owner painted the timing and valve covers in this bright green to contrast the rest of the car…
Big Mike’s Prelude was already on tour out in the East Coast so he decided to bring it by the Wekfest East event. If you saw the Vlog, you’ll know that his trip hasn’t exactly been the easiest but he’s made the most of his journey out East…
The familiar engine bay of Big Mike’s SEMA “Top 10” Battle of the Builders Honda Prelude…
Aimgain JUN VIP GT Lexus LS460 on Work Zistance wheels representing Liberty VIP and PrimeNYC…
RE Amemiya FD RX-7 from Regiment Zero…
Rocket Bunny Boss FD built by WD Ultimate on Rotiform wheels…
Mazdaspeed GT-C FD3S RX-7 on Work VS-XX from Regiment Zero…
Closing shot of the day goes to Rudi Qyu’s Spoon Sports-look EP3 Civic…
Still more to come as I continue to go through the rest of the photos. Stick around for more! Thanks for looking…
