A couple weeks ago, I decided to make a trip up to Washington with Tiffanie because I had some cars I had to shoot. We had a free weekend so I thought it would be a good time to get away from the California heatwave. It was a busy weekend for the rest of the country however, as the much-anticipated Conor McGregor/Floyd Mayweather fight was happening. In Washington, not only was the fight going on, they also had their annual IFO drag race and car show happening on that Sunday. Whenever I go up to the Pacific Northwest, I try to have a little get-together with fellow car guys in the area and it somehow grows into this crazy gathering. The car meets I’ve organized there have gotten pretty popular I guess you can say, and people look forward to them. I posted on my Instagram about wanting to have a car meet but then I also realized that the fight was happening and with IFO the following day, I thought it might have been too much for people to wanna go to a meet as well. The biggest hurdle for the meet was not only the scheduling but also finding a proper location to host a meet. I used to hold meets down in Alki Beach, a popular destination out in Seattle, but we just filled-up that lot way too quickly and last year, the meet was shut down after about two hours or so. It is a great location but it just didn’t make sense to have a huge meet there because there is pretty much only one way to get in and out of Alki. Being unfamiliar with Washington, I reached out to my friends up there to see if they had any ideas as to where to host the meet. They had some good spots but the locations were either parks or were in areas where it was either too far or had bad roads for lowered vehicles. I ultimately decided to just keep the meet small and held it at this old burger spot called XXX Root Beer Drive-In. It was a scenic spot in Issaquah, Washington that wasn’t very big, but had this heir of history to it which was pretty cool. I liked how the place looked and I found out through friends that they actually host car meets regularly there. To keep it small, I released the info for the meet super last minute and only told some of my closer friends up there. I felt it was best to do things this way instead of creating this huge melee of cars in an otherwise quiet city. Perhaps with more planning next time around, I’ll have a bigger meet. This meet was perfect in that it was just a really chill, relaxed vibe overall and there were just a few car guys there chatting and enjoying each other’s time. We stayed for a few hours and then everyone went their own separate ways to enjoy the fight wherever.
Both Tiffanie and I captured some photos during the meet and you’ll see them all below. Enjoy and thanks to everyone for coming out. I apologize for not notifying everyone but we just didn’t have enough time to host anything huge. Maybe next summer during Wekfest time, we’ll do it bigger and better….
The first guys to show up to XXX Root Beer Drive-In that afternoon was these guys, hoods popped, some without hoods altogether, on display under the bright sun…
S13 convertible looking pretty cool with the 180SX Type-X front bumper and Work Emotion wheels…
I didn’t go into this year thinking I would see Austin Hironaka’s del Sol as much as I did. He ended up going to Wekfest San Jose this year, I saw it in Seattle for the first Wekfest event there, and again at the End of Summer Meet. Great build and one of the better Honda builds I’ve seen in the past few years…
Kraftwerks supercharged K24 swap. That “UNDR PRESSR.” box you see hiding the cables on the K24 is actually a custom fabricated catch can made by Under Pressure Racing Development…
I was actually up in Washington that weekend to shoot Tomas’ Civic. He had just recently redid the entire car, painting it this green tone, and offsetting the new paint with the carbon kevlar pieces he’s had since the car was blue…
B16A swap in the tidied-up engine bay with a polished ARC Induction Box and intake pipe, along with some Spoon Sports accessories and a Koyorad radiator…
Master Franky’s Civic hatchback with a J’s Racing front lip and smoked headlight covers. The car sits nicely on Kosei K1 wheels and the has a paint-matched roll bar within. Nice little cruiser that has a bit of that raw feel to it which is always appreciated with 90s Hondas…
Franky’s B16A swap with an OEM air box connected to an aftermarket aluminum intake pipe…
Caspar Hill’s Civic showed up with a set of bronze Volk Racing RE30 wheels on, which looks good, but I’d be lying to you if I said I didn’t like the white Advan RG wheels more. The wheels just looked period perfect on there especially with the Rocket Dancer front lip and Live Sports wing…
Caspar’s turbocharged LS swap…
If the place is known for their Rootbeer and Floats, it’s only appropriate that you get a Rootbeer Float with the boys…
One of my favorite builds from up there has to be Christopher Rafanan’s New Formula Red AP2 with a Powerhouse Amuse face. I love the bumper and how it is essentially a more aggressive version of the OEM face, and how Rafanan’s S2000 sits just perfectly at this ride height on Volk CE38 wheels and meaty Bridgestone Potenza rubber….
Austin Hironaka wins the award for most amazing looking doge at the End of Summer Meet…
Terry Suvonnarith showed-up to chill in his NA2 NSX. His NSX is coming together nicely with Advan Racing wheels, StopTech Trophy brakes, Bride seats, and a NSX-R style rear wing…
XXX Rootbeer is one of those classically-styled food establishments that just looks great for photos if you want that vintage-look…
Unmolested Acura NSX on BBS LM wheels…
You don’t see SSR Type-F wheels much anymore, especially in this particular sizing, but they look great on this silver Civic hatchback. Probably one of the most slept-on wheels of all-time to be honest…
Love how the Pacific Northwest houses a ton of classically-styled Hondas. This is a good example, basically a blue version of a CTR-look on white Volk TEs…
Blue Cusco cage and Mag Blue Volk TE37SL on this white Civic hatch…
Huy Hoang’s RSX made an appearance at the meet, only for some random asshole lady to rear-end him while parking because she didn’t have any basic understanding of proximity or depth perception. Luckily there wasn’t too much damage, except for the fact that his bumper tabs might have broke which were custom made to fit with his sheet metal widebody…
Black Integra with a Type R front lip, Advan Racing SA3R wheels, and a Mugen Gen. 1 wing…
I always love coming back to this area because it just gives off such great vibes…
XXX is actually a regular destination for car enthusiasts as they host meets there quite often. That’s why I ended up choosing this spot over some larger venues because I know the people there would actually appreciate it. The owner even came out and thanked us for hosting a meet there…
Red S2000 running a OEM CR front lip and concave bronze Volk TE37…
CL9 TSX with a Accord Euro-R conversion and mis-matched wheels, with Advan Model 5s up front and Work Emotion XT7 in the rear…
Safe to say that the Pacific Northwest is rich in Rays Engineering forged wheels…
S2000s of varying styles of execution were present in the small lot at XXX, the silver AP2 up front featured a Spoon Sports front bumper and Voltex wing, the yellow an OEM AP2, and the white with an OEM hardtop and Club Racer lip…
Here’s a better look at the white S2000 with the CR lip and CR rear wing. Nice touch with the white Desmond Regamaster EVOs…
Turbocharged BB6 Prelude on WEDS TC105N…
Another shot of Huy’s turbocharged Mugen DC5…
…as well as Terry’s NSX…
Tomas’s Civic looking great on classic Sprint Hart CP-R…
LCM Tony’s big ass Tundra on Magnesium Blue Volk TE37…
Next to Caspar and Franky’s Civics was a Midori Green Civic on Volk RE30s…
Is this a dog-sized woman or a woman-sized dog?…
Austin loves his dog so much he lets him drive his supercharged del Sol…
Perhaps these guys were just stopping by for some Root Beer Floats because they didn’t look particularly enthusiastic about getting their photo taken by Tiffanie…
One more of this S2000 because it looks perfect with the old Coca Cola machine in the back…
Closed out the afternoon with these guys before heading out to dinner and streaming the McGregor/Mayweather fight, which ended up entertaining but not nearly as interesting as the meet itself, haha…
Thanks for looking and thanks to all those who came out to the meet…
Fuck i wouldve gone. How do i find out about these meets? If its facebook i guess i just have to make one.
Was disappointing not to be able to attend. Would have been nice to have a strong turnout for IFO.
Kosei K1’s? Are they fake Buddyclub P1’s because they are bang on the exact same wheel!
What’s the charge just to go to the event? All I’ve seen for prices is just to be in it. Thanks in advance.
