I am struggling with trying to decide whether to type in “Chronicles and Coffee 1” as the post heading because I still haven’t decided if there will ever be a “2”. Not that this little gathering was a success or not, but because doing things like this during the summer time means that we all have to wake up early enough for it to happen. And hosting a meet that starts at 8, makes it difficult to stay awake for the rest of the day when you’re old like most of us.
It was fun though, for what it’s worth. We had been chatting about doing something like this privately for a few months now and since July and August are going to be pretty hectic months, I figured the last weekend of June would be the best time. This morning gatherings seem to be all the rage these days so why not do something similar at our own facility for car guys like us? All I had to do was buy some coffee, convince Duane from next door at RCompound to buy donuts, and we’d get a meet going. The format was relatively simple; Do it private-invite first so shit doesn’t get too wild, message some friends, have a good-sized parking lot, and only have it be a two-three hour block so we have an excuse to go take a nap after.
So I made this flyer, sent it to some private IG groups and told people that it was an invite-only event, but the fact that they were invited meant that we had enough trust in them to not invite creeps or thieves or any random asshole to come along. The day before the event, I even snuck the flyer out online so some of my Instagram followers could come if they caught wind if it in time. What resulted was a nice chill meet with friends and some nice cars, as expected. No incidents, no “takeovers”, no street burnouts or donuts…well there were donuts, but like doughnuts, the edible kind, and absolutely zero drama. It went about as perfect as it could. I spent the morning just chatting with car friends and then we wrapped it up and went to lunch after. It was a good day. I even found a few minutes to take some photos which you will see below.
Will there be another one? I don’t know yet. Depends on the schedule of everything else. Maybe when things cool off in the fall or something. Who knows?…
Chuy’s Spoon Sports-everything Honda Integra Type R out from being buried in the back corner of our shop under plastic sheets and out in the open for once…
Jose Jaimes’ black Civic hatchback has come a long way since we first saw it when it was just a basic daily. Now it had a Exceed carbon hood, C-West front bumper, J’s Racing rear wing, 15-inch Volk TEs and Spoon Sports brakes. Not a bad daily, right?…
Luis Jaimes’ Spoon-themed Civic is also a new fun side project for the Jaimes boys…
Integra RS running Gram Lights wheels with Wilwood brake upgrades…
Carlos Palafox’s Civic is just about perfect if you’re into the purity of true “JDM” styled Honda builds of the early-mid 2000s. The car just sits perfectly, has some nice parts on it, but is not overdone in any way. Proof that less is more in an era of excess…
The engine bay is not shaved or tucked, just OEM hardware, OEM parts, and a whole lot of maintaining for cleanliness…
Der also finally decided to bring his BMW E30 M3 on concaved Volk TEs out of the shop to enjoy the overcast skies…
Clean Milano red Integra on 15-inch silver Mugen RnR wheels…
Both DPK Los and DPK David have been long-time Honda guys but have since adopted the idea of tinkering with BMWs…
David’s E46 M3 sitting on Enkei NT03 wheels in silver…
Los’ E46 still with some Japanese flavor running Bride seats…
Jay’s NA1 NSX on bronze Mugen MF10 wheels that we all recently saw at the Eibach Honda Meet in Fontana, CA…
DA Integra representing the guys from Milestone Collective. Clean set of SSR Bang Vec wheels and what looks to be a Hiro rear spoiler?… I could be wrong…
I don’t recall ever seeing this Pandem E36 M3 before but it looked pretty great on Work Meister S1 3-piece wheels along with the roll bar, rear quarter glass, and Recaro seats…
Duane from RCompound got his Midori Green Civic together in time for the meet but, more importantly, up and running for this week’s VTEC Club event…
I even pulled my Mode Parfume Y33 Q45 outside for the meet. I finally started driving this thing again too and am actually enjoying it quite a bit until I realized my foglight wasn’t bolted down and almost flew off last week after I hit a bump…
The only threat of gigantic asshole burnouts that morning was Hubert’s Supra but he was both sober and in a good mood so he rolled-up and left quietly…
Didn’t expect Brian from Mackin to come hang out but he and his wife pulled-up in his fancy S15 Silvia on Mag Blue Volk TEs which is always a welcome sight…
That’s all the photos I got that morning. Just a small batch this time. Thanks for looking and see everyone at the San Jose Wekfest event this weekend!!…
I always thought bang vecs were a 2 piece wheel
