Well, it finally happened. We had a meet for the first time in 2020 and it was an overwhelming success—extra emphasis on the word “overwhelming”. I knew people had wanted to be out and about for a car gathering but I really had no idea just how bad people were itching to get out. After things started to open back up in California, I gave it some time before I even considered having a meet at our complex. I knew there would be a sudden flood of car meets coming so I thought that would help to satiate the thirst of your average car enthusiast. I was wrong. I guess maybe that speaks to the quality of our meets here because people were really waiting for us to organize something here. A part of me was thinking that we could host a meet here and it would be relatively small because there was still a large population of people still weary and trying to avoid crowds. Perhaps it was naive of me to think that way, but I posted a notice of a meet a week in advance and quickly realized that I should return to our old format of just dropping notice on the fly a day or two before…
Whatever the case may be, I made sure to place proper protocol in place. The safety of our fellow enthusiasts was of the upmost importance to me because I would expect that same type of respect if I were to attend something of this size. I explicitly stated that I wanted everyone to maintain the proper 6-feet of distance and had everyone wear masks/face-coverings. If anyone was egregiously bending these rules, we would ask them to leave. After all, this was a private space and not your typical public parking lot so no one had any right to stick around if we felt they shouldn’t be there…
Thankfully everyone followed the rules and we had a solid, safe, gathering. This parking lot isn’t very big and can fill up quickly, and it certainly did. There were moments when cars couldn’t get through and other cars were blocking the driving path but that was my fault for not realizing how huge this meet was getting. I even let cars in earlier than normal because I saw the cars lining up down the street and didn’t want to draw unnecessary attention to our complex. Everyone seemed to be pretty understanding however and things remained peaceful. In the future I would just like to avoid having meets this large in size because it does make it incredibly difficult to see all the cars and have proper spacing for good photos and what not. Announcing the Chronicles & Coffee Meets last minute, like we had done with all the other ones in the past before last weekend, seems like the better plan to alleviate the crowd. That way it rewards the people who have supported us over the years and who keep-up with what we are doing regularly. I prefer to host friends and supporters rather than having hundreds of people here who have no idea who we are and just want to be at a car meet. So, in the future, if you enjoy these meets and want to join us, please keep a close eye on our socials to see when we will announce another one, because it’ll be VERY short-notice…
Because of the melee that ensued and the sheer size of the meet this time around, I didn’t have much time to just walk around freely to get photo coverage. It was a toss-up between doing video and photos, trying to find a balance between the two, but what resulted was not getting enough of either. There were plenty of great cars and even more than usual, but the four hours just flew-by. Here is what I captured from that day…
Before we get to the photos, I just want to thank everyone who came out, followed the rules, and made the meet a safe one for all who attended…
Typical at our meets would be coffee, donuts, and Mugen wheels. Since we are in a global pandemic and can’t freely offer coffee or donuts to the public, we were stuck with just Mugen wheels…
One of the cars that I was looking forward to seeing because Ryan Der told me he was planning to come, was Esteban Gonzalez and his Spoon Sports-themed Honda Fit…
Der mentioned that it was a K-swapped Fit, which already sounds super interesting, but when I saw the car in-person, I was incredibly impressed with the quality and execution. I definitely plan to create some more content on this particular build once Esteban gets it closer to a point of completion where he’s happy to show it to us…
Issac Sierra drove all the way down from Central California to stretch the legs out on his new Civic project car. He’s been building an Integra for years now so it was interesting to see his approach on a Civic chassis…
Clean B-series set-up under the hood utilizing some Spoon Sports products from Issac’s collection of parts and a Comptech intake box. Air conditioning is retained since it’s more of a cruiser than a full-on show car…
Jay’s NSX on Mugen MF10 wheels sat right up front in the center row that we usually reserve for overflow and special guests…
Right behind him was John Cruz’s Integra Type R with a Mugen Gen. 1 rear wing and matching Mugen M7 wheels…
A couple more shots of the NSX. You can’t really ever get enough photos of a clean NA1 on bronze Mugen MF10 wheels…
Pulled-out from the dust and obscurity inside our own shop was Chuy’s Spoon Sports-themed JDM Honda Integra Type R…
DPK David stopped by to hang out for a few hours in his E46 M3 coupe on Volk TE37…
Danny Huerta from Karuma Limited pulled-up and found a nice spot for his imported Nissan Cima…
I’ll still never understand why Carlos Palafox sold his Civic hatchback but I’m glad it went to a good home and he’s now in his new AP1 S2000 project which he drove all the way out to Arizona to get…
TK from Remark drove their FK8 democar out while he patiently collects parts for his own Civic…
ZN6 86 chassis looking pretty good with just the stock body and a set of RS Watanabe wheels…
An EM1 Civic SI coupe resprayed in yellow with a Mugen Ferio wing and Advan Racing wheels…
Big Steve from Falken Tire took his weekend track car out for a spin to Chronicles & Coffee. His car has been making steady improvements over the past year with an assortment of new parts like his Chargespeed front fenders and Tactical Art carbon front lip…
The guys from Milestone Collective always show love and make the drive out to attend our gatherings in their assortment of DA/DB2 Integras…
Anthony Keuth’s DA Integra always looking pretty clean, whichever wheels he chooses to put on it…
Shawn actually unknowingly convinced me to have this meet after showing up to RCompound USA earlier in the week to get some tires mounted on his recently refinished SSR Shumacher wheels. He mentioned that people have been waiting patiently for us to have a gathering here and so I finally made to the decision to pull the trigger…
The lucky new owner of Carlos’ old Civic hatchback is Edgar Tapia, who has opted to keep the Civic just as clean as it was before, sitting nice and low on Mugen RNR wheels…
The brand new limited release Battlecraft x RCompound USA “Club Edition Volk TE37SL on display for the first time ever. By the time you read this, these wheels will have released on the Battlecraft Parts website…
Sean Lucas from NDF’s Civic couple getting some prime display parking within the RCompound USA facility…
Super glad that my boy Kemritte was able to make it to the meet in his AE86 Corolla. Originally he had work but shifted his schedule around to make sure he could make it in time to experience Chronicles & Coffee. He’s been redoing a lot of things on his Corolla and even drove at a drift event which he hosts just a weekend before…
Check-out the modern StopTech brakes lurking behind his old Work Equip wheels…
The interior of AE86 with plenty of dust and sand from the previous weekend’s Club Handz event at Grange…
Always new things happening to this car. Can’t wait for him to get everything all painted so we can do a little feature on this build…
It’s always a pleasure to have west coast Honda royalty at the meet. Mauricio has been taking good care of this Civic over the years and keeps it frozen in time as it should be…
Ly Say either has an incredibly nice engine bay or he was giving away free coffee and donuts without us knowing…
Cody and Kemritte talking Corollas…
Not sure if this was purposely intended color coordination or pure chance…
I’ve also been driving my Q45 again recently and brought it back from dead battery limbo. Crazy to think that after 13 years of ownership, I still get people telling me how they’re surprised I still have my “Lexus”, lol. Yes, I still have my LS400—I guess…
That’s a wrap on this one. Sorry for the lack of in-depth coverage. I’ll try my best next time, whenever that may be!…
Glad to see you still throwing meets together for your local scene, Joey! No one should be complaining about that. I’m glad to see that blue EG is still in the same state. Amazing how the guy who put it together passed but his friends have kept it exactly the same for more than a decade. (Yeah,I still have that Honda Issue of Super Street!)
