Well, it finally happened.  We had a meet for the first time in 2020 and it was an overwhelming success—extra emphasis on the word “overwhelming”. I knew people had wanted to be out and about for a car gathering but I really had no idea just how bad people were itching to get out. After things started to open back up in California, I gave it some time before I even considered having a meet at our complex. I knew there would be a sudden flood of car meets coming so I thought that would help to satiate the thirst of your average car enthusiast. I was wrong. I guess maybe that speaks to the quality of our meets here because people were really waiting for us to organize something here. A part of me was thinking that we could host a meet here and it would be relatively small because there was still a large population of people still weary and trying to avoid crowds. Perhaps it was naive of me to think that way, but I posted a notice of a meet a week in advance and quickly realized that I should return to our old format of just dropping notice on the fly a day or two before…

Whatever the case may be, I made sure to place proper protocol in place. The safety of our fellow enthusiasts was of the upmost importance to me because I would expect that same type of respect if I were to attend something of this size. I explicitly stated that I wanted everyone to maintain the proper 6-feet of distance and had everyone wear masks/face-coverings. If anyone was egregiously bending these rules, we would ask them to leave. After all, this was a private space and not your typical public parking lot so no one had any right to stick around if we felt they shouldn’t be there…

Thankfully everyone followed the rules and we had a solid, safe, gathering. This parking lot isn’t very big and can fill up quickly, and it certainly did. There were moments when cars couldn’t get through and other cars were blocking the driving path but that was my fault for not realizing how huge this meet was getting. I even let cars in earlier than normal because I saw the cars lining up down the street and didn’t want to draw unnecessary attention to our complex. Everyone seemed to be pretty understanding however and things remained peaceful. In the future I would just like to avoid having meets this large in size because it does make it incredibly difficult to see all the cars and have proper spacing for good photos and what not. Announcing the Chronicles & Coffee Meets last minute, like we had done with all the other ones in the past before last weekend, seems like the better plan to alleviate the crowd. That way it rewards the people who have supported us over the years and who keep-up with what we are doing regularly. I prefer to host friends and supporters rather than having hundreds of people here who have no idea who we are and just want to be at a car meet. So, in the future, if you enjoy these meets and want to join us, please keep a close eye on our socials to see when we will announce another one, because it’ll be VERY short-notice…

Because of the melee that ensued and the sheer size of the meet this time around, I didn’t have much time to just walk around freely to get photo coverage. It was a toss-up between doing video and photos, trying to find a balance between the two, but what resulted was not getting enough of either. There were plenty of great cars and even more than usual, but the four hours just flew-by. Here is what I captured from that day…

Der mentioned that it was a K-swapped Fit, which already sounds super interesting, but when I saw the car in-person, I was incredibly impressed with the quality and execution. I definitely plan to create some more content on this particular build once Esteban gets it closer to a point of completion where he’s happy to show it to us…

Issac Sierra drove all the way down from Central California to stretch the legs out on his new Civic project car. He’s been building an Integra for years now so it was interesting to see his approach on a Civic chassis…
