The best thing about the Spocom Anaheim show is that it is literally one of the most consistent shows you can go to in the SoCal area. It always has this fun, relaxed, feeling about it, at least for us anyway, that always makes us want to go back year to year. I myself tend to look at the Spocom show as a nice break during the hectic show season where I can actually just go to an event to chill without necessarily having to put a crazy amount of effort into anything. It’s just fun. The people from Spocom always take care of me too and make sure that I have as easy of a time as possible getting in and out of the show. They even let me have a booth space this year where I absolutely just used it as a hang out spot for my friends. I love it. The cars are cool, nothing out of the ordinary per se, especially if you live in Southern California, but there is a nice eclectic mix of builds that fill the entire hall of the Anaheim Convention Center. This show is also a true throwback to the car shows of old, where it has a traditional format which sees a dance competition, model lounge, and bikini contest. You don’t see very many shows following this format anymore because they are more compartmentalized now and cater to the newer generation. I have a ton of fun at this show. There is no pressure there and it’s just good old honest fun with fellow car people, and I enjoy that thoroughly. People who bring their cars there are insanely competitive and love to win, because Spocom still follows a traditional points system of determining its winners, but it’s not a style of judging that I really think works anymore, but I appreciate that they continue with that tradition…

I didn’t shoot much this past weekend because I’m preparing myself for the massive Wekfest Seattle and Los Angeles events coming in the next few weeks. I did do a lot of video though, and I think the videos capture more of the essence of this show and really help to show you guys how much fun we have at these events. It was crazy running into Justin from Team Rice (Hawaii) in his FK8 Civic Type R at Spocom. I actually follow him on Instagram and had no idea he lived out here in SoCal. He has an E46 now as well and this was supposed to be his daily but it seems like it is coming along nicely with some Advan Racing wheels…

I think he has a kit on order too so it’ll continue to evolve in the next year or so…

Wheelers Motorsports brought out this Varis-equipped Mitsubishi Evolution X, featuring an exposed carbon hood that served as a window to display a built 2.2L blueprinted engine with Magnus intake manifold and Comp Turbo upgrade…

Interesting turbo manifold which brings the Comp Turbo well above the hood line with a dump pipe that also exits straight out of the top…

The CSF display booth featured two Mitsubishi Evolution builds, this one a red Evo IX on black CCW forged wheels and much simpler aero compared to a hoard of Voltex-adorned Evos at the show…

In the engine bay was a 4G63 engine running quite a bit of titanium plumbing and a Sheepey Race turbo manifold dumping straight into the sky…

From this angle you can see the Magnus intake manifold which leads to a titanium charge pipe connected via Vibrant Vanjen clamps. The neo chrome accessories are a little much though and honestly sort of take away from all the cool titanium bits…

The other Evo was an Evolution X, owned by Ravi from CSF, wearing a widebody kit designed by famed car guy and creator Jon Sibal. This is actually a full-blown race car that has participated in Shift Sector events and is aiming for more competitive events in 2019…
