The best thing about the Spocom Anaheim show is that it is literally one of the most consistent shows you can go to in the SoCal area. It always has this fun, relaxed, feeling about it, at least for us anyway, that always makes us want to go back year to year. I myself tend to look at the Spocom show as a nice break during the hectic show season where I can actually just go to an event to chill without necessarily having to put a crazy amount of effort into anything. It’s just fun. The people from Spocom always take care of me too and make sure that I have as easy of a time as possible getting in and out of the show. They even let me have a booth space this year where I absolutely just used it as a hang out spot for my friends. I love it. The cars are cool, nothing out of the ordinary per se, especially if you live in Southern California, but there is a nice eclectic mix of builds that fill the entire hall of the Anaheim Convention Center. This show is also a true throwback to the car shows of old, where it has a traditional format which sees a dance competition, model lounge, and bikini contest. You don’t see very many shows following this format anymore because they are more compartmentalized now and cater to the newer generation. I have a ton of fun at this show. There is no pressure there and it’s just good old honest fun with fellow car people, and I enjoy that thoroughly. People who bring their cars there are insanely competitive and love to win, because Spocom still follows a traditional points system of determining its winners, but it’s not a style of judging that I really think works anymore, but I appreciate that they continue with that tradition…
I didn’t shoot much this past weekend because I’m preparing myself for the massive Wekfest Seattle and Los Angeles events coming in the next few weeks. I did do a lot of video though, and I think the videos capture more of the essence of this show and really help to show you guys how much fun we have at these events. Check that out if you haven’t already and then take a glimpse at this brief photo coverage of the 2018 Spocom Anaheim show…
Thanh’s Sprintex supercharged Vlene Japan widebody Scion FR-S RS 1.0 looking great with updated graphics and new Advan GT wheels…
I always say that it is all in the details and even something as minor as a gold wheel hub adapter can help set-off and add contrast to a perfectly good wheel…
Beautiful Hakosuka Skyline GT-X on Panasport wheels with color-matched over-fenders…
Not too many Hondas this year at the Spocom Anaheim event, but these there were some nice examples…
I spotted this K-swapped Civic hatchback earlier this year showing at the Formula D Long Beach season-opener and not much has changed on the car since then…
It was crazy running into Justin from Team Rice (Hawaii) in his FK8 Civic Type R at Spocom. I actually follow him on Instagram and had no idea he lived out here in SoCal. He has an E46 now as well and this was supposed to be his daily but it seems like it is coming along nicely with some Advan Racing wheels…
I think he has a kit on order too so it’ll continue to evolve in the next year or so…
Probably my favorite photo from the stuff that I shot that weekend. It’s just nice to be able to capture a candid moment sometimes and seeing what real life is like when the cars aren’t all wiped down and just posted inside the convention center…
The Autofashion USA-built Mode Parfume Lexus GS300, owned by JC Williams from San Diego, CA, with paint and body done by the guys over at Buddha Concept Design…
Under the hood of the GS is a Procharger supercharged 2JZ-GE with custom metal paneling created by Buddha Concept Design…
Another car Autofashion USA and Buddha Concept Design collaborated on was this custom radiused and metal widebody Honda Accord. The metal work is fantastic and the wheel arches look practically OEM. Truly one of those cars that you have to see in person to appreciate because the lines are done so well that you wouldn’t even think they were reshaped…
Wheelers Motorsports brought out this Varis-equipped Mitsubishi Evolution X, featuring an exposed carbon hood that served as a window to display a built 2.2L blueprinted engine with Magnus intake manifold and Comp Turbo upgrade…
Interesting turbo manifold which brings the Comp Turbo well above the hood line with a dump pipe that also exits straight out of the top…
Wheelers Motorsports M&M Honda Hyper Widebody DC5 RSX on aggressive Volk Racing TE37V Mark II wheels…
Widened NSX wearing Downforce aero and SSR Executor wheels…
The CSF display booth featured two Mitsubishi Evolution builds, this one a red Evo IX on black CCW forged wheels and much simpler aero compared to a hoard of Voltex-adorned Evos at the show…
In the engine bay was a 4G63 engine running quite a bit of titanium plumbing and a Sheepey Race turbo manifold dumping straight into the sky…
From this angle you can see the Magnus intake manifold which leads to a titanium charge pipe connected via Vibrant Vanjen clamps. The neo chrome accessories are a little much though and honestly sort of take away from all the cool titanium bits…
The other Evo was an Evolution X, owned by Ravi from CSF, wearing a widebody kit designed by famed car guy and creator Jon Sibal. This is actually a full-blown race car that has participated in Shift Sector events and is aiming for more competitive events in 2019…
Spectacular engine bay set-up executed with help from Rywire, Nuke Performance, Sheepey Built, Dominic Le, and Magnus Motorsports…
Junction Produce will always have a special place in the hearts of any Japanese VIP enthusiast. For me, it always gives me this feeling of nostalgia so I always stop to capture any vehicle that is fully equipped with JP aero and wheels…
Clean white on white NA1 Acura NSX on Work Meister M1…
I first caught a glimpse of this Subaru WRX STI at the Wekfest San Jose event not too long ago and have been enamored with it ever since. Love the Varis Arising Ultimate aero kit, Magical Racing mirrors, and Volk TE37SL…
Another glimpse of the white Civic hatchback from earlier in the post on 15×8 Volk TE37SL. Here you can see his BackYard Special front bumper and there’s also a peek at his K20 powerplant under the hood with direct-port Nitrous set-up which, upon further review, didn’t look to be completed. Still a very nice build nonetheless…
Caught one of the Spocom models walking by and getting a peek at Damien Abrams’ K-Break Lexus 2GS on Work Emitz wheels and Airrunner suspension…
Sitting pretty at the Meguiars display was Brian Duong’s Varis Kamikaze Toyota 86/FR-S. It almost feels like I see his car more often than I run into him at shows…
Talk about a menacing front end….
Jon Sibal’s Rauh-Welt Begriff Porsche 964 sitting perfectly on Work Meister S1 3-piece wheels…
Rywire-built Mugen AP1 S2000 owned by Angel Ramos with custom widebody executed by Casale Designs….
2.5L stroker F-series engine operating on Kinsler individual throttle bodies running 8-injectors. Note the signature XRP plumbing which matches the valve cover inside the cleaned-up engine bay of the S2000…
The widened rear half of the S2000 still running a Mugen 3-piece wing and rear bumper, housing a pair of 18×12 Volk Racing ZE40 wheels and 18×10 up front…
Autofashion USA-built Mode Parfume GaMu widebody S2000 parked within their epic display area right in the front entrance of the 2018 Spocom show…
Right next to it was Big Steve’s Mode Parfume Lexus LS400 with radiused body work housing SSR Professor TF1 wheels…
That’s a wrap on the 2018 Spocom Anaheim coverage. Make sure you check out the Vlog on YouTube for a more in-depth look at the many cars at this show along with some funny/random behind-the-scenes stuff that only we can offer. Thanks for looking!!…
