I really liked how these photos came out for the latest Meguiar’s project so I thought it’d be nice to put them up here on the site. These are all the photos that were used without the “Netflix” formatting and photos that weren’t used because they didn’t fit the way I wanted them to. There’s no real reason to explain again why I chose these two cars for this particular shoot. If you really want to know, please go ahead and read the previous posts or watch the Vlog for the full breakdown. These photos are a bit of a departure from my current work because they’re all strobed with Alien Bee AB1600s. I don’t use flash much for photography these days but I’ve made it a point to utilize them again for the Meguiar’s projects because a lot of them had to do with showing a ‘look’ from a particular period of time when strobes were used heavily for shoots. A decision was made to use them for this shoot because I wanted a more ‘production’-style look that you’d use for shows or film. I wanted to make sure everything was lit correctly and knowing that it was summer time and a little too hot to shoot during the afternoon, proper lighting just made sense. It’s always a good idea to strobe people anyway because it allows a more even surface to edit with and people just look better when they’re lit-up correctly…
Ideally we would have shot these photos at a different location other than the back of the shop, but Noel has a really strict work schedule and he wasn’t even around for the entire week while we had his car here. There’s quite a detailed list of incredibly high-value parts on his FR-S so we just didn’t feel comfortable taking it out of the complex or moving the car around much. The rolling shots were actually shot just hours before I completed to project and Noel had to come by on a day off just so we could get them done. Kristian’s car is always here so that wasn’t much of an issue. With that said, here are the photos that were captured for this portion of the “Portrait of an Icon” series. Enjoy…
Thanks for looking!!…
With how heavily modified this great example of an FRS is, that is super nice of the owner.
Side picture is one of the best ones of Kristian’s EK. Wish there was a higher resolution.
I’m glad to see it getting closer to be driven and enjoyed after all this time.
Cannot wait to see and hear it move!
