The video was posted last week but I thought now would be a good time to actually get the photos up of the recent private event I was invited to where we got to see Aaron Espino’s CR-X unveiled. Unlike most build debuts, this was actually planned to coincide with somewhat of a housewarming party at Ryan from Rywire’s freshly remodeled home in Huntington Beach, California. I remember once upon a time Ryan had these grand plans for this house. It sounded crazy at the time to build a partition inside his home where he would be able to display a car but Ryan is an unconventional type of dude so we all had faith he’d pull it off. And of course, he did. I don’t have all the details on what was all involved with the overhaul of his house but I know it wasn’t particularly easy—and definitely NOT cheap. There was a point when he wasn’t even able to live in the house because everything was torn down and being built from the ground-up. When he told me he was doing this event with Espino’s CR-X parked inside his house, I just had to see it for myself…
If you haven’t seen it, I’ve attached the Vlog which I did on this event below. Give it a watch to get a better idea of how the house looks, it’s incredibly unique…
Aaron Espino’s CR-X displayed in Ryan’s custom-built ‘living room/den’ which is situated between his garage and pool area…
The completely reworked engine bay and K20 set-up executed by Ryan from Rywire…
Mugen carbon fiber wire cover mounted to the K-series valve cover that has been custom Cerakoted by Chapman Concepts to match the custom Mugen MF10 wheels…
AT Power individual throttle bodies with their signature angled velocity stacks…
Custom bronze-coated Mugen MF10 wheels with their original decals…
Behind the spokes of the Mugen wheels are StopTech big brakes and rotors…
An alternate angle of the engine bay. From here you can see where the oil breather fitting is situated on the side of the valve cover. There’s going to be a hose that connects it to the catch can but it had yet to be mounted that weekend…
Remote water filler neck, radiator cap, -AN fittings and XRP hoses are often signature touches of Rywire-prepped engine bays…
A look at the AT Power throttle bodies from a lower angle…
Here you can see how the fuel and cooling system is plumbed using XRP HS79 hoses…
Rywire tucked radiator under the core support of the CR-X running a dual fan set-up…
Love the symmetry of the engine bay and how cohesive everything flows together…
Mugen steering wheel to go with the general theme of the build. The factory cluster is gone though in favor of a AIM digital dash display…
I thought this was such a cool angle of the house where you can see everyone just lounging around the CR-X…
At one point we moved all the furniture around to get better photos and also closed the garage door for a cleaner look…
I had no idea that there were other cars parked outside worth looking at until I was about to leave. Saw this yellow NSX on BBS LMs with the sun setting and thought it would make a cool shot…
Congratulations to Ryan and his girl for building such an amazing house as well as Aaron for putting this CR-X together. It was such a pleasure to see it all come together finally and be able to spend the day with friends.
I posted the Vlog episode below in case any of you missed it when it was released a week ago.
Thanks for looking!…
Thank you Joey, as usual looks excellent!
I am not a car person, but I found the photos of that engine fascinating!
Really appreciate the thoughtfulness and effort you put into capturing the mood and angles of whatever surroundings you’re present in. Don’t ever stop.
