Tons and tons to do the last few days with all the merchandise stuff going back up on The Chronicles official storefront, Norivalnoequal.com. It’s the first of the month too so I got bills to pay and money to make, lol. Trying to stay afloat out here, you know what I mean?! Gonna keep the intro short and dive right back into the ongoing Attack Tsukuba 2019 photos. There is some really cool stuff below, including the TS Factory AE86, the Carbon Junkie AE86, a Kinsler-injected EK9 from GNR Racing, and one of the most beautifully executed Japanese-tuned Euros you’ll likely ever see. Scroll and read, share if you please. Thank you! Let’s keep it going…
The Orange Ball DC5 Integra Type R raised-up on jackstands after returning from a hot lap session in the afternoon…
While they were tinkering with the car I got to get a glimpse of the interior with its custom dashboard and digital display set-up..
TS Factory Bunzou Racing AE86 Levin running a built 4AG engine set-up using components from Crystal Body Yokohama (CBY) including their Hayabusa throttle kit…
Looks like modified N2-style rear flares in the rear with the wheel arches rounded-out to house larger Volk TE37V Mark II wheels. The Front has a vent flare mounted to a CBY fender along with a dry carbon vented hood and custom front splitter set-up…
Honda S2000 Type-S (CR) in Apex Blue with a vent bolted onto the factory fenders, along with a Voltex rear wing and Volk CEs. Looks like it was also built with the assistance of S2000-tuning gurus, Arvou…
Yonas from JDMYard, Yasu from Exceed Osaka, and Yasu’s friend Minami…
The man who holds the all-time lap record at Tsukuba Circuit, Tomohiko “Under” Suzuki from Scorch Racing, talking time attack with the guys from JDMYARD. Nice to see him out there despite him not driving much lately…
One of the more unique aspects of the Attack series is that there is a female drivers-class of competition that has a very competitive group. Here is one of the drivers in her EG6 Civic SiR rocking an Arios front bumper, Enkei wheels up front and 15-inch bronze Volk TEs in the rear…
Just a couple of very lightweight time attack monsters from different eras at Tsukuba. Different generations but the same idea, naturally-aspirated high-revving 4-cylinder engines inside gutted bodies with a ton of aero…
A look under the widened front fenders of the DC5 Integra Type R. Check out the stripped and riveted chassis and Endless brakes…
Nothing crazy about the engine within the ITR, just the naturally-aspirated K20A Type R…
Weight reduction and strength is the goal here with the punched-out radiator core support…
The area around the front shock towers has been reinforced to avoid chassis flex…
I couldn’t get enough of the TS Factory CBY AE86 Levin from Bunzou Racing so I snapped away, as you’d expect…
255/40-17 Advan A050 wrapped around a set of Volk TE37V Mark II…
Get a look at that custom rear frame inside the trunk reinforced with a plate covering up the spare tire area which has been cut-out to save weight…
The frame inside the trunk is built to mount the massive rear wing to the chassis of the TS Factory AE86…
With the TE37V removed we get a look at the Aragosta Jun-Works damper with Hyperco springs and Brembo brakes up front…
Headlight delete on the TS Factory Levin with a mesh hole to bring airflow into the engine bay…
The repaired front over-fenders on the TS Factory Levin…
Also equally impressive and downright insane was the Carbon Junkie AE86 Levin created by Takumi Hayashi…
Hayashi began developing this AE86 around 8 years ago, creating every panel he could out of dry carbon to have the ultimate goal of one of the lightest Hachirokus in Japan…
All the venting of the dry carbon hood on this AE86 makes it look like a ultra futuristic variation of a TBO hood…
To save even more weight, the headlights are long gone from the dry carbon body but in their absence is a visual reminder made of printed vinyl…
The venting in the hood is pure function as you see the ducting built around the engine of the AE86…
V-mounted radiator with proper ducting…
Behind all the dry carbon you’ll find a built 16-valve Toyota 4AG engine with individual throttles that produces around 220PS…
Appropriate at that Carbon Junkie is parked next to another full carbon-bodied car, the Minamoto ZZ30 Soarer…
A look once again at the 2JZ-GTE set-up inside the cut-up engine bay of the Soarer…
The GNR Racing Honda Civic Type R from Hokkaido with a K24 engine built by Tsuneo Sonoda from Impact Racing…
Most of the front end of this Civic has been eliminated for weight reduction with a custom core support in place with adequate ducting to deliver air to the custom-fabricated horns of the Kinsler individual throttle bodies…
Love how the horns are extended and angled downward…
Also interesting to see Kinslers being utilized in Japan being they are an American company and how TODA Racing has always been the choice of most Japanese enthusiasts over the years…
Aluminum core support crafted beyond the shock towers that hold the headlight covers and front fenders in place…
Even looking at the Endless big brakes up front you can see right through the body into the engine bay…
Another angle reveals how the aluminum core support works and how its designed…
An absolute stunning build that had me frozen in my tracks was the Assist Kyoto F82 BMW M4 coupe running their Laptorr front spoiler and bumper extensions…
Concave Volk Racing ZE30 wheels mounted over the massive Endless brakes front/rear wrapped in 295/35-18 Advan A050…
I love Japanese-tuned Euros so this is right up my alley. This car just looks spectacular in Yas Marina Blue and apparently it is fast as fuck too breaking the minute-mark at Tsukuba with Taniguchi behind the wheel…
RE Amemiya aero on this FD3S RX-7 on mismatched black Enkei Racing wheels along with a huge custom front splitter…
So refreshing to see the 13B engine still being used in an era when engine-swapping is so popular in these cars…
Right next to it was an FD RX7 wrapped with an Itasha livery without the factory Rotary engine…
Brembo brakes up front where you can see into the engine bay where the turbocharger resides and how the exhaust dumps right out through the front fender…
Speaking of engine-swapped RX-7s, this one hosted a Toyota 2JZ-GTE engine…
One of the best-sounding turbochargers ever created, the classic HKS T51R, which is also capable of creating heaps of power…
Aggressive front face with a hood that’s been cut to host the HKS T51R and the Toyota 2JZ…
Under Suzuki may not have been driving but the CT9A from Team ESCORT was most certainly there to try and take the all-time lap record with Fire Ando behind the wheel…
It ran great throughout the weekend and Ando even produced a new personal best, but ultimately, it did not break the record held by Suzuki and I believe towards the final run, the engine actually blew-up…
I decided to get as many details as I could so I shoved my camera into the rear bumper of the ESCORT Evo and got a glimpse of the center-exit exhaust and rear diff/suspension set-up…
One of my favorite shots from that entire trip was this shot of the front brakes and suspension on the CT9A…
The Endless brakes on this Evo were fucking massive…
A look at the air jacks on the Evolution…
A “Winners” decal from the Attack Suzuka event where it ran a 1’58.298″ lap time plastered onto the dry carbon replacement windows on the ESCORT car…
Not everyone had a garage to pit in so some enthusiasts had to find other ways to work on their cars and relax in the paddock…
Newly released Panspeed full widebody kit on this FD3S RX-7…
The Seyamax R32 Skyline in display during the long lunch break which allowed spectators to walk on the grid to see some of their favorite time attack cars…
The RB26DET engine of the Seyamax Skyline GT-R…
Next to the Seyamax build was Masumoto Shoichiro’s BNR32…
Probably one of the best-looking tires of all-time, not to mention undoubtedly one of the most competitive, as it is THE trusted and regarded tire of Japanese time attack…the Yokohama Advan A050…
…And that wraps Part 4 of the Attack Tsukuba coverage. I think there might be one or two more parts coming so stay tuned! Hope its eye candy for you guys who are into Japanese car culture. I gotta get back to work! Thanks for looking!!…
