I’m currently away on a little vacation (EDIT: I’m actually back and just forgot to post this) but I thought it’d be a good time to load up these photos that I captured from this year’s Super Lap Battle for you guys to see. They are mostly detail shots of the cars I was running around and following that day at the track which includes Amir Bentatou’s K-series turbo NSX, Kyle Padelford’s MCR-styled BNR34 Skyline, and the Spoon Sports Super Taikyu S2000, which is here in the U.S. on loan from Spoon Sports Japan for the 2019 season. I didn’t cover much else because I was mostly doing video that day and just snapped these photos because there are parts of these cars that are really worth looking at which make them super interesting builds overall. I don’t get too much time with these cars that often so I tried to get as much of them as I could that day. Make sure you watch the Vlog HERE, if you haven’t already. You get to see the shakedown laps of Amir’s NSX as it makes its way onto Buttonwillow CW13 for the first time ever after its completion. There is still much to do with the car to make it a truly competitive time attack vehicle but things are looking good so far and we are all excited to see how it will do in the very near future. Enjoy!…
The interior of Amir’s NSX, with the AIM digital display mounted in front of the factory instrument cluster, along with a Vertex steering wheel, Battlecraft shift knob and Hybrid Racing shifter combo, and a Solo lap timer…
It was cool seeing the NSX out and about for the first time after seeing it in pieces for the last couple of years as it was slowly being put together. That Midnight Purple paint really looks good under the bright sun…
From this angle you can definitely see the purple in the paint. This was right before Amir took the NSX out for the first time on its maiden voyage…
Amir getting situated inside the NSX as Kristian Wong looks over everything to make sure the car doesn’t fall apart on the track… He could also be staring at Amir’s dick…
The K20 engine that now resides inside the engine compartment of Amir’s NSX…
After watching this car come together, it almost feels natural to see the K-series engine inside the NSX…
Must be a blast to have a turbo right behind your head and just being able to hear it scream…
The AIM dash display lit up…
Thanks to Hybrid Racing for contributing to the build and providing so many great parts for the NSX…
A look at the rear-end of the NSX with the exhaust and turbo dump pipe exposed…
The Spoon Sports Super Taikyu S2000, a car that I’ve shown you guys plenty of times during my visits to TYPE ONE in Tokyo, Japan…
Aaron from Spoon Sports USA chatting it up and having a chill day with driver Daijiro Yoshihara…
One of the cars that immediately caught my eye that day was Kyle Padelford’s BNR34 Skyline GTR, wearing MCR aero and Titan7 wheels. The amount of fabrication and little details on this Skyline is insane…
The gutted interior of Kyle’s Skyline, as bare bones as it gets with just half of the factory dash in place with brake reservoirs where the factory navigation unit used to be, with just one single Sparco seat and a digital display where the factory cluster was deleted…
Shifter and Wilwood hydraulic hand brake assembly. Here you can also see the fluid reservoirs where the OEM navigation unit used to be…
AEM Electronics digital dash display…
The rear-end of Kyle’s BNR34 with the lightweight carbon trunk removed exposing the chassis-mounted APR rear wing…
Retrofitted Nissan R35 GTR brakes up front and black Titan7 T-S5 wheels…
RB26DET engine set-up with Hypertune intake manifold, single Borg Warner turbo, Koyo radiator, and XRP plumbing…
Take a closer look and you’ll realize that the front strut tower bar also serves as a oil catch-can…
Love the brushed-finish on the iconic RB26 valve cover…
MCR front bumper is so good on the R34 Skyline…
Since the carbon fiber trunk was off the car I was able to get a pretty close look at the custom fuel set-up and Fuel Safe cell in the spare tire area…
Get a look at the wing stands that are mounted to the body as well as the XRP plumbing used for the fuel set-up…
Kyle buttoning-up some stuff inside the bare cockpit of his Skyline GT-R…
The guys from Evasive Motorsports were out competing in their FK8 Civic Type R running their EVS Tuning Spec E aero package and GReddy Performance engine upgrades…
The brand new HKS USA FK8 Civic Type R democar was completed just in time to debut at my Year10 event and then off it went to Vegas for SEMA before debuting on track at the Super Lap Battle event…
The FK8 CTR platform is beginning to become quite the popular platform to mod and compete in GTA and Super Lap’s Street Class…
The guys from Spoon Sports USA decided to compete at Super Lap with the Spoon Super Taikyu Endurance Race S2000, recently imported from Japan and will hold residency in the USA for the 2019 season…
Aaron from Spoon Sports was kind enough to add a little bit of Stickydiljoe to the S2000…
Since coming over from Japan, the Prodrive wheels have come off and have been replaced with Titan7 wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan A052 rubber…
The interior of the Super Taikyu S2000…
Just in case you didn’t believeit, the official Super Taikyu decal on the Spoon Mooncraft top…
Takeshi Kobayashi’s KDay!! event decal on the rear glass of the Spoon Mooncraft top, being that Spoon Sports Japan is a huge supporter of Kobayashi’s event series…
Rear trunk with spring-loaded latches and fuel filler…
Spoon Sports S-Tai rear bumper, quad Spoon N1 exhaust set-up and rear wing…
As the sun began to set on Super Lap Battle 2018, I found an opportunity to get a shot of the S2000 in front of the Spoon trailer as the guys were cleaning-up…
Another shot with the Titan7 booth right behind it…
Meanwhile back in the garages was Amir and his RS Future K-turbo NSX…
I wasn’t sure if I would run into Kyle’s MCR R34 GTR again so I made sure to get plenty of photos of it…
Little did I know he’d be popping-up at plenty of events after but with the Skyline sitting on Volk Racing TE37SL after this event. The black Titan7 T-S5 wheels did look great on the car at Buttonwillow, however…
Dai Yoshihara flip-flopping his way out of the HKS USA booth after chatting with Keisuke Morita…
I can’t say I spent very much time shooting action photos while the cars were on the track but I did try to get some captures when time permitted…
I even caught a glimpse of Ryan Novak’s Civic running M&M Honda Hyper Widebody aero and a BIG wing…
…and one parting photo of the RS Future NSX as it was coming back into the pits after some fun and a nice little spin-out…
You’ll be happy to know that I’m back to work now for the rest of 2018, haha. Thanks for looking and make sure to come back for more content!…
