A close friend of mine hit me up last night and told me that he really wanted to see more of my content from Japan. I’m still working on that stuff and I understand the excitement, but honestly the Wekfest Hawaii photos are a nice little break from all the Japanese content. I was in Japan so much the past few months that I think I collected enough content for an entire year’s worth, lol. Okay, that might be a bit of an exaggeration but I’d be lying to you if I said I didn’t have a lot loaded-up in the chamber ready to fire…
Hawaii served as a nice break for me. The weather, despite the rain, was fucking spectacular and I ate way too much. I’m not really one for beaches and swimming or any of that vacation-ey shit so I really just spend all my time eating there. I mean, I’ll stare at the beach, walk around in the sand (with shoes on), I’ll look at it and appreciate the fuck out of it, because it is paradise after all, but I just don’t spend too much time off normally. My work is my play and I enjoy it, so whenever I’m supposed to be chillin’, I find myself becoming really antsy and wanting to get back to the office to work. Food is a nice distraction but otherwise, I’d just like to be sitting in front of my computer creating…
Today we’re going to make my friend super happy and finish-off this quick two-part series of Wekfest Hawaii coverage. This particular set of photos are better than the ones I posted in Part 1, because the weather really cleared-up and just cast the right amount of sun on the cars as they rolled-in. I tried to make the edits appropriate to the environment so they have more of a ‘golden glow’ to them compared to the cold harsh Japanese winters that I found myself shooting in during that time. If you see my coverage a lot it’ll be very obvious to you how different the colors are based simply on environment. I try to make these feel warmer, obviously, and the Japan coverage is much cooler in tone. I don’t know why I’m telling you guys any of this because it’s very basic and frankly, obvious, but I guess I’m just rambling and typing off into a tangent…
What I’m really doing is occupying my own time as I’m currently downloading the in-car footage from Will Au-Yeung’s Civic that was recorded from the Attack Tsukuba event. It is the only thing I was missing from putting those Vlogs together and even without that footage, the videos are SOOOO GOOD. I promise you. I’m so excited about showing them to the world because the content is just very entertaining and showcases a lot of stuff you wouldn’t see anywhere else. Sometimes I can’t even believe I get paid to do this stuff, lol. It’s so much fun…
Oh, downloads are wrapping-up. Time for a snack and to get back to work on some Vlogs. Enjoy the photos and thanks to everyone in Hawaii for all the hospitality!…
Ken from Elusive car club’s Phoenix Yellow Integra Type R running a Airwalker front bumper, Mugen Gen. II rear wing, paint-matched Magical Racing side mirrors, Spoon Sports brakes and a set of white Mugen MF10L wheels wrapped in thick Toyo R888s…
Alex Yang and a band of Bimmers getting set to drive into the venue…
Chad Tupinio’s black S2000 lookin’ great with a Spoon Sports S-Tai front bumper, S-Tai hood, Mugen hard top, and J’s Racing rear wing…
If you’re looking around at the bronze Mugen MF10 wheels and noticed the front fenders, you don’t see them very often but they are actually from Varis…
If I had a list of wheels that were the most photogenic, bronze MF10s would definitely be top 3 on that list…
Nice detail touch with the blue Spoon Sports brakes, MF10 caps, lug nuts, and Cusco cage. The color theme also extends into the engine bay, which I’ll show you further down in this post…
Alex’s Powerhouse Amuse Ericsson M480 E92 M3 on BBS E88…
A Rocket Bunny Ver. 1 FR-S rolling into the Blaisdell Center as DPK David watches on…
Nice Zenki SR20DET-powered 240SX wearing full Origin Labo aero…
Jordan Vega’s freshly completed S13 coupe made its debut at the ’19 Wekfest Hawaii event and ended the day taking home “Best Nissan” honors…
…but unfortunately was totaled not soon after. The SR20DET-swapped coupe has since been crushed and parted-out…
DC5 RSX running Volk Racing CE28SL and Anointed widebody components…
One of the Hondas from Hawaii that I’ve always remembered fondly since my first trip to the islands some years ago is Gil Deliz’s Ferio-inspired Civic sedan build. Love how appropriately themed it is with all the miscellaneous JDM EK4 SiR parts paired with the Mugen Ferio wing and custom rebuilt Mugen M7 wheels…
Another look at the custom Mugen M7 wheels with a step-lip, Spoon Sports brakes, JDM EK4 bumpers with integrated intersection lights…
Two very, VERY, different generations of Toyotas. One a modern ‘CUV’ in the form of the popular CH-R platform and the other a classic sports utility vehicle looking quite remarkable considering its age…
Trying to get in my artsy bag with this shot with the tree and shit but it just looks like a dinosaur is about to walk into the frame casually…
Just a beautiful Toyota Landcruiser lifted and accessorized for the Islands…
One of Hawaii’s staple Honda builds, Randy Naito’s Midori Green track Civic, looking great as usual. He’s always adding something but its purpose never changes as a lightweight, K-powered time attack vehicle…
S2000 owners love their bronze Mugen MF10s and you won’t see any complaints here…
The chopped rear bumper of Naito’s Civic with a rear diffuser. Get a closer look and you’ll see the Brembo rear brakes peeking out through the TE37SL spokes…
Just the perfect amount of lighting and cloud cover to make Joel’s AP1 glow…
I had no idea Steve Perez had moved to Hawaii but I soon found out that the red S2000 is his new project…
Spoon Sports, Mugen, Varis, and J’s Racing make for a great combination of parts on Chad’s AP1…
One of my favorite looks of all-time for the S2000 face is the simple, understated, BackYard Special front lip. It looks great on Joel’s S2000, which is also sitting just right with that wheel/tire set-up…
Anybody out there know what this lip is for the OEM Navan front bumper pictured here? I’ve had plenty of people ask me but I honestly don’t know. Last I heard it was a lip specifically made for the Navan face from a small shop in Japan that is no longer around. You can imagine how rare this piece might be considering how uncommon it is for people to run Navan bumpers. For those not in the know, enthusiasts with Navan fronts typically add Integra Type R DC2 front lips because it fits quite well and looks good…
Brandon Kim got super hammered the night before and instead of taking us to another club to party, somehow ended-up in a Lyft that took him to the airport for no reason. Luckily he woke up at 4PM just before roll-in ended to bring his Apex Blue Voltex S2000CR to the show…
Brandon and David having a good laugh before the show started…
Keila’s Zenki S14 just completed in time for the show to begin…
Nice and low on Work VS-KF wheels along with LED corners and custom turn signal lights…
Braxton showing off his Nitrous bottle in the trunk mounted with his custom audio set-up…
I finally got to get a look at what was going on inside the engine bay of his Civic…
If I remember correctly, this K-series set-up is actually built from the inside-out with a nitrous oxide set-up that’s actually hooked-up and not just used for show purposes…
As mentioned earlier, you can see how the blue theme carries over into the engine bay, which has been repainted with a K-series swap. Looks like a full-size radiator up front, custom brake lines running to the booster, custom fuel set-up with the regulator mounted to the passenger-side shock tower, and mil-spec engine harness running to the firewall with a quick disconnect plug and plate…
Noah Borgia’s turbocharged NSX that you also saw in Part 1 sitting on BBS LM wheels in black with gold hardware…
With the rear hatch propped-up you can see the intercooler set-up on his boosted C30A engine…
Naks’ HKS GT-Supercharged Lexus LS460 from Endless Projects…
Freshly rebuilt F20C engine in a tucked and cleaned-up engine bay running individual throttle bodies…
Christopher Calimlim’s carbon fiber Supra…
…and his wire-tucked 2JZ-GTE set-up that he did himself in the garage…
Roy Cabibbo’s Full Race EFR turbocharged FA5 Civic SI sedan with full JDM FD2 front/rear conversion and FEEL’S front fenders…
Gil Deliz also brought his Civic hatchback out for the show, sitting nice and low on Mugen MF10L wheels with Denji projector headlights, JDM corner lights, and carbon front lip…
Wayne from August Cascade reuniting with some old friends from Team Ultraspeed for a rare group photo…
Randy got a nice spot right up front to display his Midori Green Civic hatchback wearing a J-Blood front bumper and Tracklife Composites front fenders…
K24-swap under the hood of Naito’s Civic, strengthened by a beefy ASC Speed Metal strut brace. Not too far away, mounted inside the engine bay, are remote reservoirs for the JRZ dampers…
Lexus GS300 planted on the ground, looking great with just a simple lip kit, on BBS LM wheels representing PUREVIP, Hasback, and VPR…
And with that comes the end of our Hawaii Wekfest coverage. Now…back to Japan photos and videos. If you enjoy Japanese car culture, stick around for the next few months, the content is HEAVY…
Love the E92 with the Amuse Ericsson kit! If you didn’t know any better, you could swear that it’s stock aero, that’s how clean the Ericsson kit is. Might sound silly, but out of all the cars you’ve shown us in this post, it’s that E92 is probably my favorite. There’s just something so right about the kit, it certainly adds a bit more aggression to a stock E92, yet somehow manages to look OEM at the same time. The late Tanabe-san sure had a great eye for design..
Thanks for all the hard work you’ve put in, in order to bring us all this content on your site and all the Vlogs as of late.
