Hmm… I, uhh, kinda don’t have anything else to say about this event. Lol. I think with the previous post and it circulating online as well as through social media, I developed a good understanding of how people feel about it. If you’re on the inside, you’re gonna defend the position of those who were and have always been a part of this event. If you’re not, you either have a good grasp of what I was trying to explain or simply do not care enough about it to give it your time. Some of you are just here to see photos. I wouldn’t say that there was a wrong or a right. It’s just all dependent on perspective. If anything, I saw it as a small social experiment to see how people would react…
It’s also a practice in getting people to read because we’re so quick with how we just skim through things now and how we give so much so little attention. If I could get you to talk about something you care about, no matter where you stand, I’d appreciate the input. I think it is important to stir the pot sometimes. Create that conversation, you know? Why move so blindly and aimlessly through the seemingly endless amounts of content that is thrown at our faces every single day? Let’s talk about some shit. What’s important to you? How do you feel about it? Everybody wants to be heard or have a voice these days but when it comes time to speak-up, people rarely do. I’ve built this platform because of my willingness to talk about things. It’s not always what people are going to want to hear. I can be polarizing. At times people tell me that I should be more responsible about this platform I’ve been given. Trust me, I’m very calculated. I don’t move or say anything without over-thinking it—admittedly to a fault at times. But, it allows me to see all the possibilities. That’s kind of why all of ‘this’ works. I don’t exist just to be agreeable. Where’s the growth in that?…
If you want to see what other people had to say after Part 1, please read the comments provided in the Instagram post below. I think it’s a interesting discussion and I appreciate the time taken to speak as well as respond.
If you find yourself tired of reading and just want to look at photos and captions, well, I got you. There’s a ton of that to follow here.
It should be re-iterated that no matter what I say on my platform, I never want it to be misunderstood that I don’t appreciate the hard work involved with organizing an event of this magnitude. This is a big fucking deal to those involved and for the creator(s) of this series. If it’s the last one ever, I give them a standing ovation for pulling it off, especially considering having Honda of America involved. There are probably a lot of rules and conditions that come with being associated with an automotive manufacturer that are not expressed publicly. Everyone who attended appeared to have an amazing time.
Now, let’s put this one to bed. Enjoy the photos…
Spa Yellow NSX on Advan RZ-DF wheels with a carbon hood, carbon front lip, and NSX-R wing…
One of my favorites at the event was this Marga Hills widebody NSX with Voltex rear wing and Advan Racing RG-D2…
Sue Tran’s white NA1 NSX running a Science of Speed Vector front lip and staggered BBS LM wheels…
Spotted some wholesomeness when these Honda Motocompos pulled-up during staging…
Then they zoomed off…
The Science of Speed “NSX Dream Project” cruising in during the early morning parade for the cars designated for the VIP section…
Here you can get a good idea of how scenic the Honda facility is, if you’ve never had a chance to set foot on their Torrance facility before…
The Spoon Sports USA S2000making its way in…
I didn’t even notice at first but the car was actually being driven by Tatsuru Ichishima from Spoon…
Another visitor from Japan was this Honda N-One RS which was also prepped by Spoon Sports…
The VIP group hosted a variety of different Honda platforms, a couple being brought from out of state like Stephen’s FK8 CTR from Hawaii…
Always cool to see Ichishima behind the wheel of a Honda. I’m sure the S2000 suits him much more than my Pilot which he randomly decided to dig through at the last “I <3 HONDA” event…
Danny Trieu’s M&M Honda Hyper Widebody S2000 with Car Shop GLOW taillights and Voltex wing pulling his matching Honda Ruckus during the morning parade…
Who had any idea you’d see a Spoon N-One RS and an FK8 CTR with MF10s together not in Japan?…
Here you can get a good idea of what the face-depth looks like on the new 5×120 18-inch Mugen MF10. Somehow I have a feeling we will one day see a set on an E46 BMW M3 when someone who has both cars gets bored. And you know what? It’ll look damn good too, lol. Should they do it? No. Will they. YES…
I love how Mark’s E-AT looks now that he lowered it some more. He’s stated that he doesn’t really like how aggressive it rides at this height but boy does it look good…
An imported Honda Acty work truck followed by a Mugen CR-X Pro.2 complete with Mugen MR5 wheels and exhaust…
Speaking of Mugen, is there another AT chassis that features as many Mugen components as Mark Munoz’s? I doubt it…
Javy Chen’s black Mugen SS S2000 on bronze Mugen MF10…
An FK8 CTR from Illinois equipped with Mugen rear wing and taillights…
This is probably said way too often, but here is an incredibly clean Phoenix Yellow DC2 Integra Type R on Mugen M7 wheels…
Louise Lo’s Apex Blue S2000CR featuring a Voltex rear diffuser, ARC Light LED taillights, and bronze Mugen MF10 complete with anodized blue caps…
The back end of the VIP parade line-up featuring a supercharged NSX…
Lemz’s FK8 Civic Type R was on display with the Spoon Sports line-up since his is one of the few equipped with both the Spoon front and rear bumpers…
Tatsuru Ichishima getting some filming done before the event officially kicked-off…
The Science of Speed “S2000R” project which features an K20C1 engine swap and HPD-developed Controls Package…
This is one of the first K20C1 swaps offered by HPD for this limited edition program that comes with a full crate motor, HPD ECU, engine swap harness, and accelerator pedal. At a glance, the Type R engine actually looks right at home inside the bay of an S2000. The V-mounted intercooler is also a nice touch to complete the swap…
A couple more photos of the brand new, limited to 300 production models, NSX Type-S in “Gotham Gray” colorway. With the Curva Red non Type-S beside it, you can definitely see how much more aggressive the Type-S is with the new front face, carbon front lip, and carbon rear diffuser…
For those that don’t know, Danny is actually in the garment industry and makes a majority of my apparel. That’s actually how I know him. When I met him I had no idea he was a car guy, lol.
I should also add that he was responsible for printing the ‘white tees’ that I was joking around about in the vlog. If you guys took it seriously, lighten up a bit. As I said, it was all done in good fun…
By the time you guys see these photos, Jose’s FK8 Type R will already be down in Long Beach competing the Global Time Attack’s portion of this year’s Long Beach Grand Prix…
Jose’s Civic was invited to be a part of the Honda Homecoming event on the behalf of PRL, who’s line-up of engine upgrades have found their way onto his Type R…
While we’re on the topic of FK8s, I walked over to the CTR area to get some more photos of some of the ones that caught my eye earlier. This is Kevin Mach’s Civic from the Bay Area with a Mugen front lip, and mismatched Rays wheels…
Benjamin Gutierrez’s FK8 rocking his wife’s polished Volk TE37 wheels, a Varis FRP hood, Voltex wing, and EVS front lip…
Tried to sort through the color-coordinated areas to find S2000s that stood out. This one had mostly Voltex aero but with Circuit Garage rear over fenders. Hood looks to be a Spoon Sports piece, wheels are Advan GT in blue…
Urmil’s Mugen SS-themed S2000 looked slightly different than the other Mugen SS cars at the event because of the rear wing. It looks like he went with a DC5 Mugen wing base with different wing stands to fit to the trunk. Not 100% sure but it definitely isn’t a S2000 Mugen wing. Maybe he opted for the DC5 wing to hint at the fact that he has a K24 swap under the hood. Cool build. Kinda sucks that it was tucked away in the corner…
Turbocharged AP2 S2000 with a fat drag radial in the back with big StopTech brakes up front paired with Titan7 wheels…
Edgar Mendoza’s NFR Mugen SS S2000 really stood out to me so I made sure to go back and find where it was to get a more detailed look…
I was glad I walked over because then I get to see how clean the engine bay was. It reminded me a lot of how my friend Jared’s old S2000 bay looked in the way it was executed. It has a good selection of add-ons that give the engine a very cohesive look…
Even though I often see this Marga Hills NSX at many other events in Southern California, I also went back for a couple more photos of it because it was one of the more thoroughly built Hondas of the entire event…
Advan Racing RG-D2s look great on this widened NSX because it allows the wheel to have a much more concave face, almost reminiscent of classic GTR-face Advan RGs…
Might as well close this set out with likely the best build of the event, Mark Munoz’s E-AT Civic. Ironically enough, he got a VIP spot last minute and didn’t originally intend to even be there.
All things considered, it might be one of the best builds we’ve seen come together in 2021…
Super clean engine bay with a dual-cam ZC swap crammed into it. Everything looks like it’s brand new still and the wrinkle bronze valve cover is a great touch…
Slightly weather aero discs on Mark’s Mugen CF-48 wheels. Sometimes it’s almost better to have that naturally-aged look than to completely refinish such a classic piece and make it look out of place…
Mugen dual-exit exhaust and Mugen plate with Mugen hardware…
Though the car is bombarded with everything Mugen makes for this chassis, one of the rarest pieces of this build, and one of the pieces Mark is most proud of, are these Honda F-1 window visors…
Original Mugen SW-36 steering wheel paired with a Mugen shift knob and Mugen S1 bucket seats. He even has a Mugen tote crate in there just for that added touch…
Of all the photos I’ve taken of this Civic lately, I don’t think I’ve ever shot it from the rear. I was trying to get more but then a friend came over and started telling me all kinds of stories, lol. After that, it got way too sunny and I left to go nap. The rest you can see in the Vlog episode if you haven’t already watched it. That’s all for this one. Sure it was a little controversial but hey, let’s keep things interesting, lol. Thanks for looking!!…
Hey, thanks for the focus on my champ white Mugen S2k!!! Great pics!
Aside from the already willing participants based on actual turnout and lot spaced used, what “Honda Homecoming” really needs is an even stricter criteria (*ahem..and host) if it is going to be able to allow for all H models to be presented.
From time capsule cars of each golden Honda model followed by rare Honda specialty companies such as Mugen and Spoon themed cars (i.e. prime builds in light of rarities Chad Castelo’s Mugen NSX, Mark Munoz’s Mugened out E-AT etc.)
all the way to private racers such as seen in Jose Mejia’s racing FK8 Type R and to corporate H race cars. Heck maybe throw in some top top notch dragsters while youre at it!
Then if you really want to be the man of your words then dare to still “stir up the pot”,
pick nothing but the best of the best “Honda enthusiast street cars”
picked by the one and only Chronicles Stickydiljoe frontman Joey Lee.
Hard feelings not included. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Boom! All parking spots, attendants, and Honda historics brand accounted for nothing but truly the best under the Honda blue sky!
To all parties, please take notes…
