It’s almost a shame it has to end here, but alas, as we say too often… all good things must come to that inevitable end. I had a great time in Seattle this year for the Wekfest event, but being able to sit down and show the world these photos, and to talk about everything, was the icing on the proverbial cake. The show was great, the cars as well, and the people even better. I think everything that had to be said was talked about in the previous three posts so I’ll relieve you guys from overworking your eyes to read my ramblings…
I gotta extend a huge thank you to Terry Suvonnarith and Toto Deleon for helping out at The Chronicles booth all day. I was so busy that I was barely even around the booth and these guys just took the reigns and handled everything for me. More importantly, they had fun doing it as well because I often have to beg people to help out and they’re bored out of their minds by the middle of the day, lol. These guys couldn’t wait to do it again. It’s great to have good people like them around. I don’t see them very much, probably only a few times a year, but we stay in touch and I know I can count on them whenever I need anything. Terry was one of the first people that I met from the Northwest and we’ve remained close since then. Whenever I’m in town I’ll stop by his house and we’ll chat about anything in particular. Toto is one of those guys that has the magic touch. Anything he touches turns to fucking gold, so I’m anxious to get him motivated to finish his Civic build. The guy had one of the best Honda builds ever long before there was any social media, or even any means to get the parts that he had. It’s crazy. He’s been building it slowly, as most guys with families and stuff do, but I’m hoping that his car will be sitting right where Wayne’s CR-X was this year at the next Wekfest Seattle. It’ll be front and center, parked in The Chronicles booth. If he’s lucky maybe I’ll even let him work the booth again, lol… But yeah, that guy’s work deserves to be appreciated. Now is the perfect time because the spotlight is shining bright for the PNW. No pressure or anything Toto, but many of us have our fingers-crossed and are eager to see the finished product…
Anyways, love those dudes. My experiences up there wouldn’t nearly be the same without them. Today, I have a smaller batch of photos to close out this series. They are all from the end of the day when the cars were rolling out of CenturyLink Field. This area is fucking beautiful and when the sun starts to set, the light comes through the gaps in the tall buildings just right. Ever since last year, I’ve been anticipating this point in the day when I can get some photos of these cars leaving again…
I guess that’s pretty much it. I leave you with the final set. Enjoy…
I’m seriously loving how all these new Tacomas are popping up everywhere and people are putting TEs on them. 6-lug TEs are some of the best looking TE37s ever, especially in bronze and like on passenger cars, these wheels just look great on every truck. This is not a paid ad, by the way, and I have never owned a set of TEs. Maybe some day, lol…
Tam Phan and his pristine BMW E30 coupe exiting the building…
Exiting closely behind Phan was this E30 convertible on BBS wheels. Love the interior color against the black paint of the body…
I initially thought this photo came out too dark and then I played around with it and it worked out somehow… I think its the headlights that did it… Or the couple wearing Chronicles tees next to it…
Huge props to Saul Leon Jr. and his friends for making the trip all the way out from Southern California to attend the Wekfest Seattle event. They didn’t even trailer the car or anything and drove it all the way up to Washington… That’s commitment…
Pretty sure this is Henderson’s E46 M3 but with someone else driving it out of the show. His set-up was nice and simple, with just a stock bodied E46 lowered on Pressed Graphite TE37SL. Love the addition of the HKS driver’s seat as well…
Adrian’s EM1 Civic SI leaving the venue with a look at his custom center-exit exhaust…
Mike Brown’s AP1 S2000 on white Desmond Regamaster EVO, color-matched hardtop, and J’s Racing rear diffuser…
Looking perfectly era-specific was this SW20 MR-2 Turbo on Blitz Technospeed Z1, one of my favorite wheels of all-time…
Chris Rafanan’s AP2 S2000, angling out of the driveway and barely clearing his Amuse front bumper, looking good on Desmond wheels… though I must say I loved the bronze CEs on it before…haha…
This black IS300 was firmly planted to the pavement, barely making it out of the driveway on polished Work VS-KF…
I guess it’s only appropriate that I capture a shot of this 510 coupe exiting as I got a photo of it first entering the building that morning…
Ride height is such an important factor when it comes to styling a simply-executed Honda. This hatchback, as I’ve said before, is just about perfect, riding nice and low on 16-inch Regamaster EVOs. Love the JDM EG6 yellow interior along with the Livesport rear wing and First Molding lip, both which give the car a slightly longer, sleeker, appearance…
The interesting thing about the Wekfest Seattle event is that there are always a solid collection of lowriders that come to hang out. They add a different dynamic to the show and look super cool exiting the building, especially when they hit that three-wheel motion…
This Impala glowed against the setting sun as it cruised out of the venue in style…
Just gold Daytons and golden sunsets in Seattle…
One of the guys that I had the opportunity to chat with the longest during the afternoon was Thomas Strom. The guy just has so much stored in his head when it comes to Honda stuff and he seems to have a story for every single thing he’s ever done to his EF hatchback. Last year he introduced me to his immaculate Integra Type R build but for 2018, he displayed his long-time EF hatchback project on Hoshino Impul wheels which has a colorway that also matches the details on the body of his hatchback. I wish I had taken more photos of it so that I could tell you more, but just hearing this guy tell me about his build was certainly one of the most interesting conversations I had that weekend…
Doug Rody’s Camaro was a welcome surprise, rolling in and out of the show amongst a sea of Hondas…
Austin Hironaka is always all smiles whenever I see him. I think he blew up his CR-V that morning on the way to the show, luckily he has this K24-powered del Sol as back-up…
Legit JDM RHD Toyota Altezza with original BEAMS 3S-GE and all, sitting on Desmond Wisesport wheels…
Wooster’s beautiful Porsche 964 on Speedline wheels. Also note the roll bar and Recaro seats inside…
Huy Hoang and one of the best DC5s ever. Truly one of the staple builds in the Pacific Northwest and a car that could compete at a high-level everywhere else in the world…
Living the dream…
Chris and his supercharged J32 Civic hatchback from Level One on his way back to the mystical land of Canadia…
Jon Wood stole Huy’s supercharged K-series Civic for the day and had everyone thinking it was his. I can’t really say it was his fault though because Jon Wood definitely doesn’t look like a rich Asian guy named “Huy”. Also didn’t help that he had the windows down and was just smiling in very one’s photos after Huy drove off in his DC5…
Franklin Woo and one of the cleanest, best executed Civic builds in the area. Always good to see the car out and about…
Advan TCIII wheels are also one of those wheels that’ll look good on just about anything, Porsche Caymans included obviously…
The best-looking clusterfuck of traffic you’ll find, centered around a Ferrari F355 Berlinetta on Work Wheels…
And with that, we conclude this year’s Wekfest Seattle coverage. I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did. I’m already looking forward to next year, and the many more after. Thanks for looking and thank you to everyone from the PNW, Canada, and everywhere else who came to see the show for themselves. It was a truly memorable and rewarding experience…
Great stuff, always appreciate your insight into different areas. I feel like certain people might not like hearing what you have to say, love for their city running deep, but it feels pretty unbiased. Can’t wait to see the local coverage from LA.
